Your first branch meeting of 2020 will be next Wednesday the 8th of January, it will be held at the Bread and Roses pub in Clapham Common, starting at 17.00hrs, please do your best to attend.

The current pay offer will result in a pay cut in years two and four, you will be told when you can take your days off that you will have paid for. All grades have faced increased work loads which were negotiated when LU was getting the one billion pounds grant we used to get from the government, we no longer get that grant and yet our workloads continue to increase. Because of cuts to all grades we are all working in poorer working environments with increased work place violence and dilapidated equipment and working environment.
A ballot for strike will be happening sooner rather than later, it is our responsibility as members to make sure we are in a position to vote, if you have moved recently or do not receive post from the RMT please call RMT head office on 02073874771, do this as soon as possible. Also when we strike we don't get paid so please start putting a little aside to help minimise the impact of the loss of earnings. Together we can achieve a substantial pay increase, we can improve our working conditions and we can send a very strong message to our employers, that we will no longer be walked over and treated like we are second class citizens, without us there is no underground, the managing directors will still be getting their perks and yet whether they come to work or not the system still runs so let's start behaving as if we understand the importance of our roles and more importantly what we can achieve when we stand together.

Good morning Comrades, it's nearly time for local rep elections, nominations will be taken at the next branch meeting on Wednesday November the 6th, if an election is to take place voting will be on Wednesday December the 4th. If you wish to stand for an Industrial relations or Health and safety position please ensure you send a nomination address to the branch secretary Paul Geer and attend on November the 6th to give your address to the branch. Reps are required to attend at least 50% of the branch meetings in the year, please only stand for a position if you are able to commit a substantial amount of your time and are passionate in your support of the union and what it stands for.
