“She Won’t Remember This Day…”
One day
she won’t remember this moment.
She won’t remember
the way she reached up
with her tiny hand
and touched my face
like it was the most natural thing in the world.
She won’t remember
how her little voice
filled the quiet afternoon
or how her laughter
made the whole room feel brighter.
She won’t remember
sitting in my arms
like this was exactly
where she belonged.
But I will.
Oh, I will remember.
I will remember
how small her fingers were
wrapped around mine.
I will remember
the soft weight of her
leaning into me.
I will remember
how time seemed to pause
for just a moment
while I held her close.
Because that’s the secret
about being a grandparent.
The little ones
are busy growing up.
But we are the ones
quietly collecting the memories.
Every hug.
Every laugh.
Every moment
we get to hold them close.
So even if she forgets this day…
I never will. 🤍
