Very proud to have been asked to be part of the panel at this event "Dying Well Matters" on 27th October.
π¬ A CONVERSATION THAT COULD CHANGE THE WAY WE THINK ABOUT DYING
What if talking about death and dying became less frightening and more about understanding, choice and compassion?
Weβre delighted to introduce the panellists for Dying Well Matters β Conversations That Count, bringing together medical expertise, bereavement support, dementia advocacy and lived experience. π Iβm honoured to host this important conversation about something that affects us all, yet is so often left unspoken.
πΏ MEET OUR PANELLISTS
π«Dr David Jefferys β Medical care and dying well. Exploring how healthcare and innovation can support people's wishes at the end of life, and whether we need to rethink our approach to death and dying.
π«Dr Prema Ravi β Compassionate care and planning ahead. Championing advance care planning, dignity and personal choice, particularly for people living with frailty or dementia, and the importance of coordinated care before a crisis.
π«Michelle Harvey β As a Funeral Life Celebrant and Co-Founder of The Bereavement Cafe in Orpington, Michelle will explore supporting grieving families, planning ahead and creating safe spaces to talk about loss.
π«Brenda Parson β Caring, loss and resilience. Alzheimer's Society Dementia Friends Ambassador & volunteer, Brenda shares the realities of caring for her late husband, the isolation carers can experience, and how textile art helped her maintain a part of herself.
π«Maria Hinds-Grant-Grant β Children, grief and saying goodbye. Drawing on the loss of her father in childhood and her own experience as a parent, Maria highlights why children need honesty, understanding and the opportunity to say goodbye.
π« Darrell Reeves β Darrell will demystify what happens when someone dies, from choosing a funeral director to understanding the practical steps families face.
π¬ WHY DOES THIS PANEL MATTER? No single perspective can answer every question. We need medical professionals, funeral and bereavement specialists, carers and people with lived experience to help us understand the choices, emotions and realities surrounding death. This discussion aims to challenge assumptions, reduce fear, support families and carers, and encourage conversations before a crisis forces them upon us.
Whether you're caring for someone, supporting a loved one, experiencing bereavement or simply wanting to plan ahead, this conversation is for you.
π Come and listen. Learn. Ask the questions that matter because talking about dying isn't about giving up on life. It's about understanding what matters most while we are living it.
