I guess it’s finally time to introduce or reintroduce myself…
Hi, I’m Gisela (or Giselle for most people), the face behind Criollacakes
I’m a proud mum to two beautiful and kind princesses, a nurse, a baker, a fiancée, and most importantly a GOD-FEARING WOMAN who believes that faith, love and purpose can take you further than you imagine.
I was born in Portugal to Cape Verdean parents 🇵🇹🇨🇻 and grew up surrounded by culture, family, food and love — things that inspire me in everything I do today.
By day I care for people as a nurse, and by passion I create cakes and bakes that bring joy to people’s special moments. Baking started as something I loved and became so much more — it became a dream, a business and part of who I am.
But baking isn’t my only love… I genuinely love everything creative.
Give me embroidery, drawing, creating, designing and making beautiful things and I’m in my happy place. Creativity has always been part of who I am, and baking became one of the ways I get to express it.
One thing about me? I love creating beautiful cakes that taste just as good as they look (and not overly sweet either).
