Embracing Imperfections.

Last week I was one of a few very fortunate cake designers who had the opportunity to learn from the extremely talented and wonderful Marina Machado] at Dawn Welton Cake School] in London.

It was a massively enlightening experience for me that left me both inspired but also physically and mentally drained. Marina challenged me constantly to step away from the perfect, to be free and seek out opportunities within what I would previously see as flaws.

I’m not going to lie, the ‘Pillar Cake’ broke me. As a self-confessed perfectionist, imperfections are something I’ve always struggled with and I’m hard on myself constantly to make things more conventionally beautiful.

Marina opened my eyes to the beauty of imperfections through her Wabi-Sabi contemporary approach. Thank you so much Marina Machado] for the wonderful kindness, patience and wisdom you showed me. Thank you also to Dawn Welton Cake School] for your amazing hospitality.

It was also a joy to meet the very talented Helena from .atelier who started me on this journey back in January 🤍
