Bombay Restaurant – A Legacy of more than 100 Years.
For over a century, Bombay Restaurant in Dharwad, Karnataka, has been a cornerstone of authentic Indian cuisine, originally founded by my grandfather and later managed by both him and my father. Together, they built the restaurant’s reputation as a beloved destination for traditional, flavorful dishes.
Today, the legacy is proudly carried forward by my cousin, ensuring that the rich heritage and family recipes continue to thrive.
Though I’m not involved in the daily operations, I’m deeply connected to the history and flavors that have been passed down through generations. That’s why I’m passionate about sharing a taste of Bombay Restaurant at local events through my food stalls, introducing signature dishes like
Pineapple Sheera and Mysore Pak to a wider audience.
Signature Dish
• Pineapple Sheera: A deliciously rich and fragrant dessert made with semolina, ghee, sugar, and fresh pineapple, offering a perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess. This has been a staple at our restaurant, loved for its warm, comforting flavors.
•Mysore Pak: A melt-in-your-mouth South Indian sweet made from gram flour, ghee, and sugar. This golden, buttery treat is known for its rich texture and intense flavor, making it one of the most iconic sweets at Bombay Restaurant.
Upcoming Stall at Newstead wood School
At my upcoming stall at Newstead Wood School this Saturday, I’ll be featuring these two iconic sweets, along with a few other crowd-pleasers:
• Pineapple Sheera
• Mysore Pak
• Iyengar Style Aloo Buns (savory, stuffed buns with spiced mashed potatoes)
• Sweet Buns (soft buns with a lightly sweetened filling)
If you’re looking to experience the taste of traditional Indian sweets with a family legacy behind them, come visit my stall! Each dish is handmade with love, reflecting the 100+year heritage of Bombay Restaurant.
