4 Years and Counting..🎉🎉

After 6 months of chemo, a mastectomy, and 2o rounds of radiotherapy, my oncologist confirmed there was 'No evidence of Cancer.  You're cancer free, Mel!'. I still had a year of target therapy to complete, but I wasn't thinking of that, just the words, "Cancer Free!"

Today marks 4 years of being cancer free, and I can't say it's been an easy road.  Recently, I've been back and forth to the hospital for tests, including biopsies for womb and bowel cancer and hearing 'no cancer found' again, felt like a ten tonne weight off my head.

Now, I can get back to focusing on things that make me happy and fuel my soul to the fulliest!

Positive vibes only!❤️

‼️ Reminder‼️

It's that time again!! Just a little reminder for you to perform those all-important self checks!!

✅️ Monthly checks are really important, as an early breast cancer diagnosis could save your life!

💡 Remember, more black women are diagnosed in late stages, so early detection is key!

📥 Check out my previous posts to see what signs to look for and share this information with other women you know!❤️

I came across these cookie stamps whilst looking for something else and thought they represented the occasion well😉

What do you think?

Around 25% of Black African women and 22% of Black Caribbean women are diagnosed with Stage 3 or Stage 4 Breast Cancer. Compared to 13% of White women.

These figures are not only scary, they highlight the importance of self checks!

This should be done once a month, at least a week after your menstrual cycle.

Here are some of the signs to look for:
💥 a lump in the breast or armpit
💥 ni**le dimpling or discharge
💥 red rash or swelling of the breast

Don't put it off!! Early detection saves lives!

I applaud you Mum's going through treatment, and still holding down the household!👏🏾

How do you do it?? Especially the single mums!?

There were some days, that I could barely find the strength to get out of bed, let alone doing school runs and everything else!🤯

I've had the privilege of meeting some wonderful mum's on this cancer journey, and I have nothing but respect and love for you all!

If you know or are one of these special mum's going through illness but still running things, put a ❤️ in the comments.

You mum's rock!!!❤️

My Munchkin❤️

So this weekemd was all about spending time and creating new memories with my niece and God-daughter Tiana😍

It feels like just the other day, I was picking her up from nursery, and look at her now, all grown up and in secondary school.

I took her to see at The Lyceum Theatre. This was her first time at the theatre, and just seeing the excitement in her face and watching her reactions was priceless! It's a memory I hope she never forgets, cause I won't!🤩

For me, this is what life is all about (especially after cancer), creating special memories and enjoying life to the fulliest!!

I know how blessed I am, and I'm always grateful for how far I've come.

Happy Sunday Blessings Fam ❤️🙏🏾

No matter what shape they are, how big or small they are, it's important to continue to check them!

I saw this cake from and I thought it was very fitting for today.🤪

Not only should you check your breasts, but also your neck, collarbone, and armpit as cancer can be very sneaky and find its way into areas outside of the breast.

Early diagnosis has a higher percentage of survival, so early detection is vital, especially amongst the black community where we are more likely to be diagnosed in later stages.

So practice some self-love and give your bo***es the attention they deserve 🤪❤️

Seeing this cake has given me an idea to make something similar.. what do you think??

Happy New Month!!!🙋🏾‍♀️

Can you believe it's February already!😲

Well, as usual, here's your friendly reminder.

Even if it's not done on the 1st, please schedule one day in the month to self check and make sure everything is OK👌🏾.

Over 55,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, and black women are more likely to be diagnosed in Stage 3 and Stage 4, which means we have a higher mortality rate.

So, please check your breast! Early detection can really save your life!!💖

GOODBYE 2022🥳🥳..

From the moment I had my second breast reconstruction surgery to exchange the hard expander for a soft implant, I knew 2022 was going to be a better year than before!🎉💃🏾

Removing that heaviness and pain from my chest was like being set free! This year has been a year of finding me again and navigating through the ups and downs of breast cancer recovery.

From scans and unexplained pains to relaxing on holiday and another year cancer free.. it's been a rollercoaster of highs and lows🎢 .. but overall, it's been a great year.

A massive thanks to all those who have supported me, loved me, encouraged me, and inspired me.. I love you guys❤️

I pray 2023 is a year filled with good health, positivity, love, laughter, and plenty of fun for us all!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉

Think Positive, and Positive things will happen!💥

Happy Mindful Monday Family🙋🏾‍♀️

A sudden pain or a little twitch and the mind starts racing, especially when you are waiting for test or scan results!

Trying to stay positive is not always easy, but being negative never helps either!

I was told I would have to wait 3 weeks for my results, but thankfully after nearly 2 weeks the results came back.. swipe left to see my results!!💃🏾

I'm feeling so blessed and relieved ❤️.

Wishing all my fellow cancer sisters positive results for any upcoming tests or scans🙏🏾
