Andy’s Bread is a small artisan bakery based in Llanidloes. Andy’s Bread is part of the Real Bread Campaign.

The range includes slowly fermented rye and wheat sourdough breads, traditional tin loaves and viennoiserie products. Andy’s Bread was founded in June 2010 from a small kitchen in Llanidloes. After reading about the demise of real bread in Andrew Whitley’s seminal book, Bread Matters and a visit to Birmingham to bake with Tom Baker of LOAF, I took the leap into the world of micro-bakeries. We're looking for a hardworking and reliable person to join the team on an initial contract until mid-September.

You'll be working Tuesday to Friday, approximately 10am–1pm, keeping on top of cleaning throughout the day, pot washing, and taking care of whatever jobs are needed to keep the bakery in pristine condition. You'll also need to be available to work occasional Saturday mornings.

For the right person, there's potential for extra hours covering holiday shifts, and the role could grow in responsibility as we go. A food hygiene certificate would be ideal, though not essential — we're happy to support the right candidate in getting one.

Bora da / Good morning, we are all set up at Newtown market. We have all the usual great sourdoughs, tins, Rye bread, ciabatta and baguettes. Plus gooey buns, croissants, pain au choc, almond croissant. And of course vegan and cheesy focaccia.

What a stunner of a day! We are at Newtown market this morning and Great Oak Foods in Llanidloes.

We have sourdoughs including our spelt and honey tin, Llani wild and 3 Grain. Also ciabatta, focaccia, baguettes and Dolly and Ceredigion tins.

Plus loads of pastries, buns and massive cinammon buns. Also a spinach and feta pasty.

We will be back at Newtown market Tuesday morning from 10am until 1.30pm or until we sell out. Looks like it's going to be a hot one.

We'll have sourdoughs, tins, ciabatta, rolls and lots of pastries.

** Easter 2026 **

Just a quick update on our baking schedule this weekend. We'll be baking Thursday, Friday, Saturday mornings as usual.

It's the last chance for you to get some hot cross buns, and also just to note that Great Oak Foods will only be open 9:00 to 1:00 on Good Friday.

Bread will be available on Friday at our fabulous stockists in Caersws, Newtown, Tregynon, Burriew and Montgomery. And of course the wonderful Great Oak Foods in Llanidloes.

You can also still order online on our website for collection from the bakery on Saturday to beat the queues.

Also, we will be back at Newtown Market next Tuesday from 10 to 1:30.

Yes it's Tuesday morning and the shelves of Great Oak foods are replenished with our finest bread and pastries.

We will be baking Tuesday to Saturday throughout the Spring and Summer.

Today we have have overnight semi-sourdough plain and seeded white tins and rolls; sourdough rye and wheat baguettes plus a selection of croisdants, chocs, cruffins and other buns. Plus Arthur has been busy crafting anew weekly pasty. This weeks is veg curry.
