Can I ask everyone a big favour?

There is a proposal to create a new national park in north east Wales which will include the Ceiriog Valley. Pennant is already within the existing Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that includes Chirk Castle and the surrounding parkland but the rest of the Ceiriog Valley is unprotected.

Developers and Wind Farm operators are obviously against anything that might limit their multi billion pound projects and some local councillors, with clear conflict of interests, are trying desperately to dominate the agenda, spreading false information, stifling any discussion and maligning anyone who dares to stick their head above the parapet in support. They are trying to encourage as many negative emails to Welsh Government as they can muster so I would like to encourage the opposite.

Anyone with any interest in conservation is in support of the proposed protection so can I ask you to spare two minutes to send a very brief email? The deadline is Monday

Possible Text I regularly visit the area of the proposed national park and am fully supportive of the designation as it will clearly help to protect the precious landscapes, wildlife, heritage and language, will be a boost to local businesses etc

Looking down on Pennant from the back field early this morning. Another lovely bright, still day but the blue sky that we've enjoyed for the last few weeks isn't quite as clear. A sign that the weather is changing and much-needed rain is on its way. That will be ideal for the fields and garden but not quite as handy for the horse barn which is under repair and currently has no covering on the inner roof slopes.

Merry Christmas to all friends of Plas Pennant. Not a very festive photo I'm afraid. The weather today seems unseasonably warm but we're all enjoying the sunshine and blue sky - a welcome change after recent storms.

Pontcysyllte Aquadact , the main element of the World Heritage Site, is in walking distance of Pennant , just a short climb up out of the Ceiriog Valley and drop down into the Dee Valley

🍂 Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, known as 'The Stream in the Sky', stands 38.4 metres (126 ft.) high and 307 metres (1007 ft) long and is one of the most stunning sights of North Wales.

A basket full of whippet puppies on their way from the house to the garden

No foals this year at Pennant but Poppy has produced six adorable pure-bred whippet puppies, three boys and three girls, now two weeks old. They are just about to open their eyes so the fun is about to start.

Tidying up the bed in the chapel garden this morning, trying to keep the Helianthus under control so it doesn't overwhelm the herbs we've planted for our chapel guests to use.

Nobody staying in the chapel or bakehouse until Monday which probably makes life easier with all the snow we've had. Hopefully it will have cleared by then.
