Celebrating a special 50th birthday today with this elegant two‑tier cake.
A 10‑inch vanilla bottom tier and 6‑inch vanilla top tier, finished in smooth buttercream with edible pearls, gold accents and a fondant topper.
Loved creating this one.

Kids’ Summer Book Swap at the Cake Shed

The shed is closed for the summer, but I’d still like it to be put to good use. So for the holidays, it’s becoming a little children’s book swap.

I’ll be putting a selection of books in there that my 3‑year‑old has enjoyed — You’re very welcome to take a book, bring one along, or swap something your little ones have finished with.

There’s no need to ask, no cost, just a simple way to share stories and keep the kids reading over the summer.

Anything left at the end of the holidays will be donated to the charity shop.

4 years ago, I married my amazing husband. In honour of our anniversary, I’ve made our wedding cake (the actual one was a total disaster- not made by me).
Vanilla sponge and salted caramel bottom tier and white chocolate and Rasberry top tier. Trying to do anything with buttercream in this heat is an absolute nightmare so the lace detailing is far from my liking but if I fiddle anymore I’m going to have no cake left 😂🙈 thankfully it’s just for us so no one will notice

Evening all, the Cake Shed will be having a little break. With the summer looking like a scorcher, I don’t want to risk the integrity of the bakes I give you all.

Instead, I’m going to do treat boxes which will be available to pre‑order. I’ll pop the menu up, give you a closing date, and then the bakes will be done fresh for that weekend.

For the first box I’m thinking:
• Old School Cake
• 99‑inspired Cupcakes
• Millionaire Shortbread
• Brownie Cake (two slices of brownie with ganache in the middle)

Just putting feelers out for now — who’d fancy a box like this?

So I’ve just logged on to find over 300 of you following my page. I honestly can’t believe it. Thank you, every single one of you.

A little reintroduction for those who are new. I’m Sarah, and I started Cofion Melys Cakes after having my second baby, and going through my second experience of post‑partum depression. In the middle of those dark, heavy days, I found myself going back to baking — something that had always brought me joy, even when my confidence was at rock bottom.

I threw myself into it, hoping I could build something positive out of something so difficult. The Mums Matter group I attended every week changed everything. Those incredible women believed in me long before I believed in myself and gave me the confidence to start Cofion Melys Cakes.

And now here we are. You visit the Cake Shed, you trust me with your celebrations, and you’re helping me grow something I’m so proud of. Thank you — truly. Every one of you is helping to heal a part of me you didn’t break.
