This was our wedding cake, made by the lovely Słodki Cupcake in Poland. 🤍
I still remember this cake to this day. It was absolutely beautiful and, most importantly, tasted incredible.
And coming from someone who doesn’t actually like cakes that much… that says a lot! 😂
Little did I know that 10 years later, cakes would become such a big part of my life.
A 3 years later, after coming back to Scotland I really struggled to find cakes that tasted like the one I remembered from our wedding.
So, for my daughter’s 2nd birthday, I decided to try making one myself. 😂
I asked Słodki Cupcake for some advice, and this was the result!
The taste was actually pretty good… the decorating definitely needed some work. 😂
But for my first ever cake, I was pretty happy with myself.
I didn’t actually continue making cakes after that.
Until my lovely friend .b_w gave me a little push and encouraged me to make a cake for my husband’s 30th birthday.
Everyone loved it, and for the first time I thought…
Maybe I could actually do this. 🤍
And somehow, that was the cake that started everything.
And now, 10 years after our wedding, my husband has a completely different view on cake prices. 😂
I remember him being slightly horrified by how much our wedding cake cost.
Now he’s seen what actually goes into making a cake, not just the ingredients, but the hours of work, the skills, the little details and all the love that goes into it.
He even gets involved sometimes… although I’m not sure he ever imagined he’d be making sugar paste decorations! 😂🤍
And here we are, 10 years later… 🤍
Today I made our anniversary cake myself.
And I honestly couldn’t have imagined, when I was standing next to our wedding cake 10 years ago, that one day I’d be making cakes for a living.
A little thank you to the two girls who played a part in this journey — Słodki Cupcake for that unforgettable wedding cake and for all your advice, and .b_w for giving me that little push when I needed it.
I don’t think either of you realised at the time where it would all lead. 🤍
Happy 10th anniversary to us. 🥂🎂
