Throwing it back to May 10th when the Cookie Cupboard transformed into a pop up cafe on our driveway as part of Little Ouseburn Open Gardens 2026.
I forgot to post all the photos on here.

Every May (except for the Covid years) our village hosts an Open Gardens event. Neither Mr S or I are any good at gardening- plants don’t last long with me!- so we contribute in other ways to support our lovely community. Mr S runs the Classic Car show and I run the pop up cafe serving tea and cake. In previous years I had done my cookie stall. It’s the 4th year I’ve done the cafe and it gets nicknamed Sam’s Cafe even though I have lots of help from my mum and other lovely people in the village who have been so supportive and kind.

This year was cooler weatherwise than the previous two years but great in terms of serving cakes. It’s always tiring (two full on days of baking plus the day itself being up at 5.30am) but worth everything to see people smiling, laughing and sat enjoying your cake in your garden.

Morning everyone! Hope you’ve been having a great Bank Holiday weekend. Not been so good at keeping up on here as I have a day job as a primary school teacher too!
Currently on school holidays but the Cookie Cupboard has been open this weekend. Just a few bits left now for Bank Holiday Monday.
Off to do some school stuff now plus to plan out my posters/ socials/ cookie cupboard admin as well as the menu for the next few weeks.

Good morning everyone! The Cookie Cupboard is open again today for Bank Holiday Monday.
It will get warmer today so I am keeping a close eye on the cupboard and will close if it gets too hot.
So if you want a sweet treat, better pop down sooner, rather than later!

Hi everyone!
I haven’t had the Cookie Cupboard out since the Easter holidays as I was away. Then last weekend I had a stinking cold so didn’t want to be spreading my germs around!
This weekend I am baking but this time it’s for Little Ouseburn Open Gardens. Instead, there will be a pop up cafe (affectionally named Sam’s Cafe) in our front garden from 10am-5pm. My mum and I will be there all day plus a group of fabulous local volunteers who are on the rota to help.
If you are in the area, do pop on down. I have already started on the baking and can’t wait to share what I have baked with you all!

Alzheimer’s Fundraiser Update: finally got to the bank to pay in all the cash donations given to me from the Alzheimer’s stall from nearly 2 weeks ago!
Our final amount was £315 which was actually £3 more than we raised last year!
I have just paid the money to my JustGiving page.
Still over the moon and totally blown away by that amount especially as everything is so expensive now. Thankyou so much once again. Xx

So sorry for the lack of posting updates on my page.
I’m so much better with Instagram!

Just to update you that the Cookie Cupboard will not be open this weekend. I have been snowed under with jobs to catch up on after a busy week in the day job so that I haven’t even had time to start baking for the cupboard tomorrow. I am also awaiting my new labels which haven’t arrived yet. So I’m gutted but at least that will give me time to concentrate on baking for a local fundraiser tomorrow as well as getting sorted for the next time the cupboard is open at the beginning of May.
May is going to be an extremely busy month with Little Ouseburn Open Gardens. The cupboard won’t be open that weekend but our front garden will turn into an outdoor cafe.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I cannot open on the Saturday 16th/ Sunday 17th May but will be open for the rest of the weekends of the month including the two Bank Holiday Mondays!

Good morning everyone!
It’s been a windy and wild weekend here so I unfortunately didn’t open up the cookie cupboard yesterday. But yayyy, I’m open this morning with some freshly baked seasonal treats!
What’s more, Mr S has put my new sign on top of my cupboard. I am really happy with it and it will be joined by some seasonal decor next weekend.
In the cupboard today we have five bakes with a special offer of 4 for £10 on the brownies, blondies and Krispies.

Thankyou so much to everyone who stopped by and bought cakes from us today.
As usual the weather decided to cause anxiety this morning- we were all prepared when it started drizzling so we had to get the gazebo up. It has been cold outside but we have kept warm with coffee and tea to keep us going.
We came in at 4pm as we wanted to be finished before Storm Dave started whipping up his magic but luckily we had sold most stuff and have raised £295 approx with more to come.

I’m going to put the Cookie Cupboard out tomorrow morning with the remaining things in (donations to Alzheimer’s Society again) and have packaged up the remaining bakes.
I’ll have 2 mixed Easter treat boxes.
One bag of mini Egg cookies
Two bags of mint aero cookies
Two bags of mini chocolate flapjacks
Three individually wrapped Milky Bar mini egg blondies
Three Cherry and Almond Traybake Slices

I’ve also got 4 mini knitted Easter chicks with a kinder egg inside left.
