A cauldron full of kazoos for the audience at our Halloween sing later this afternoon in Lincoln Assembly Rooms! I hope we’ve actually got an audience or the choir will be attempting to play all of these themselves!

We started recording last night! We have done a proto-recording before (just before lockdown, which explains why we didn't finish and release it!), but it doesn't gel with our sound now - so this autumn/winter term is all about getting some of our more popular parodies sorted out and committed to a recording.

"Brunel" and "Mother's Ruin" finished last night, and work started on "Brass Repeater". The choir were so focused they only ate one packet of Tunnocks' Caramel Wafers! UNHEARD OF!

Poor Baritone Jolliffe was treated to the news that he has to write an hour's worth of new music before our Halloween concert for the Ministry of Steampunk. How he laughed! How he sobbed! He says he has "Jingle Bat" and you are all going to have to be content with that....

A huge SCONE-y thankyou to everyone at West End Ladies Club last night who were just THE BEST AUDIENCE! You laughed at all the right bits, clapped, cheered and "aww"ed in sympathy with Soprano Kemish's sn*t-aversion.

We had an absolute blast, and were so thrilled to get the cheque which will be helping the Ankylosing Spondulitis Society, who are trying to get help to people in Lincolnshire who are living with this crippling condition.

You will be pleased to know that Alto Hardman's knee was NOT picking up Radio Luxembourg, it was actually Radio 4, so we're all clustering around later to listen to Woman's Hour. Even the chaps. It should be very educational for them.

Thankyou so much to everyone

Dear Followers, and Fellow Strange People!

I can confirm that SCONE is now fully booked up to December '25. There will be LOTS of places to see us in the upcoming months, and we are already looking forward to a bit of sunshine and slightly warmer, drier weather, as some of our clockwork robotics are rusting slightly in the damp winter.

I will be giving the altos a good going over with some T-cut to bring up their shine before performances, although the sopranos are still very poorly strung and wobbly. We need to restring them, but lack the funds at the moment. The chaps are still giggling at me referring to them as "the Lower Parts", so there's no hope there....

See you soon!

SCONE have had an amazing time at Asylum 24! We debuted our impromptu new act of Aquatic Singing as the Castle opened at 10am (it rained quite a lot. Our lyrics literally dissolved…) and then got to sing in the dry in The Assembly Rooms, debuting the first bit of our forthcoming “War of the Wolds”, including astonishing special effects and ALL THE RIGHT WORDS!!!!! Honestly, it was a first…

Thankyou so much to the MoS for having us back - it is our favourite weekend of the year ❤️. And also a huge Thankyou for all our audiences for joining in with the madness!

SCONE sang their little hearts out today: first of all in the rain at the Castle (we got sooooo wet! My sheet music turned into papier-mâché…)

And then in the Assembly Rooms where we showcased our “War of the Wolds” section, including props: a terrifying tripod, the HMS Thunderchild, flames and the gorgeous Carrie being carried away to France….

I’m hoping someone got some photos!

Thanks to everyone for singing, having fun and generally being utterly splendid!

A huge thankyou to the Women's Institute of Heighington who invited SCONE along last night to have a sing at their April meeting.

What a super group of ladies! We had a blast, and thoroughly enjoyed having a bloomin' good old sing song with them. None of the WI ladies attempted to kill us after our rendition of "Jerusalem" at all! We're very grateful for their tolerance.

Apologies for Alto Hardman, who spent the whole evening swigging gin, even stopping a song halfway through to pour herself a cup of tea. Shocking!!! At least she managed to refrain from noisily slurping from the saucer during the introduction...

Sopranos Warriner-Wood and Walker, and Altos Green and Kipley were sadly benched from active duty and sent to their respective chaise longues to recover (or loudly demand kedgeree and sympathy as required).

Our next adventure is A Steampunk Fairytale Weekend at Tutbury Castle in May, where we hope to debut a jaunty new number regarding Charles Darwin's eating habits. I will remind Bass Jolliffe to pack the sick bags.

Toodle pip!

We were all so very grateful to be asked to sing “The Voices of Humanity” on Candacraig’s next release from their upcoming album. It is a humbling moment thinking about everyone and everything we’ve ever known being on this one tiny pale blue dot.

The single release is on 29th of January, on all music platforms. Candacraig are amazing musicians and songwriters, please support independent musicians - particularly when they are as amazing as Candacraig!
