The things you don’t necessarily see…

Straight sides, sharp corners and crisp edges.

A wedding photographer recently posted on Instagram that in her 12 years, she’d “never seen such a clean-cut square cake that was perfection!”

It made my day! It’s taken me 15 years to get here (the first few years’ examples were indescribable sloping shapes 😂).

These are the details I spend a lot of time concentrating on. They might not be the first things you notice, but they’re what make the finished cake look right, in my eyes anyway.

There’s a surprising amount of work hiding behind simple.

A classic all-white, four-tier wedding cake, decorated in the traditional Lambeth style, with intricate detailing, delicate swags and layers of decorative piping.
Created for their summer wedding at The White Hart Hotel, Bailgate, Lincoln, with this lovely backdrop.
Afterwards, Kasia sent me the loveliest message, telling me how perfect the cake looked and how amazing it tasted. Apparently, some guests didn’t even believe it was real until it was cut! 😊

A little sunshine from Amber & Josh’s summer wedding at Elsham Hall. 🧡

Their three-tier cake combined warm orange, white and gold, with delicate sugar flowers and copper details.

It was lovely to receive such a kind message from them afterwards:

“Everything about it was absolutely perfect and we can’t thank you enough!”

A very special family celebration 🎂💕

This cake was made for a family who are very special to us, celebrating three significant family birthdays together at their lovely, traditional pub, The Adam & Eve.

I was delighted to make something suitably celebratory for the occasion — with shades of ombré pink, gold detailing, delicate sugar flowers and a handmade dahlia taking centre stage.

It was such a pleasure to make this one for them, and even more lovely to hear that everyone enjoyed the cake as much as the celebrations themselves. ❤️

15 Years 🎂

Today marks 15 years of No. 82 Cake Studio. 🥂🎂 Here’s a few of the hundreds from beginning to now.

Fifteen years of cakes, consultations, deliveries, early mornings, very late nights, countless tiers, an awful lot of icing… and so many wonderful couples who have trusted me to create their wedding cake. ❤️

It’s rather hard to believe that what started 15 years ago has grown into the business it is today. I’m incredibly proud of it, and particularly grateful to every couple, customer, venue, supplier, photographer and fellow wedding professional who has supported No. 82 along the way.

The last few weeks have been exceptionally busy with weddings, so my social media has been rather neglected while I’ve been busy doing what I love most — making and delivering cakes! 😂

Things are finally calming down a little, so I’ll be back to regular posting very soon. I have lots of beautiful weddings, cakes and lovely reviews waiting to be shared.

But for today, I think I’ll simply take a moment to celebrate 15 years.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the No. 82 journey so far. Here’s to the next chapter. 🥂

This contemporary four-tier design, with its combination of smooth finishes, crisp lines and handcrafted ruffles, was created for a beautiful marquee wedding in Northamptonshire. One of my recent wedding cakes delivered to Stubton Hall.

This elegant four-tier design featured handcrafted sugar roses and delicate blossoms, with a subtle marbled effect to the lower tier adding a soft touch of colour. Finished with crisp contemporary lines and a beautifully smooth white finish, it was designed to complement the timeless surroundings of this wonderful venue and complement the colour shades used for day.

It was a pleasure to create this elegant four-tier wedding cake for C & T’s wedding at the beautiful Washingborough Hall. Finished in soft ivory with handcrafted sage and white sugar flowers, delicate pearl detailing and subtle embossed lace, this timeless design perfectly complemented their celebration.
