‘Ello, ‘ello!
Another week almost over, , and another week closer to Autumn🍁🍂 …BRING.IT.ON!
Enough with the heatwaves already!
We want Rocky Road and Caramel Slice and Choc Fudge Cake weather!
Our summer hours are working wonders for us this year, but when we have had a the odd cooler day, we have been asked several times “Why are you still closing at 1 o’clock?” or sometimes less politely, like the lady that shouted how “1pm is ridiculous” as she walked past yesterday! 🙄
(FYI- even if we had our old opening times, 3:20 was still too late!)
Our lovely, old, Wynd building is charming, but also really bloody hot! Add a couple of ovens, and a coffee machine, a dishwasher, and the sun blazing though the windows…we’re not gonna win. Even if we could afford to install air-con, we wouldn’t be able to afford to run it, so that’s not a solution for us right now either. The cakes hate being out in the heat, our team struggle working in it, we were hardly getting any customers coming in during peak heat times, soooooo, we changed things up.
We’ve been loving the 8am opening times, seeing people for their morning coffee before work, and closing up at 1pm has also meant that our own work/life balance has been much better and our kids have seen more of us at home, during daylight. Lucky them!!
Next week sees some more scorching temperatures heading our way, so instead of keep swapping the opening times around all the time, we’re sticking with these until September, orrrrrr the until the temperatures drop consistently.
So there you go, just a little explanation so you don’t think we’re closing early because we’re lazy, or just wanting to annoy you 😉🤪
See you on Saturday…9am ‘till 3pm this time!
