A beautiful cake for a beautiful lady - Inside and out 🦋

A colourful pastel cake with rice paper butterflies and an elegant glass dragonfly centrepiece.
Inside is 3 layers of fresh blueberry and lemon cake, coated with lemon buttercream and sandwich with wild blueberry conserve and tangy lemon curd 🍋🫐

Today vs 3 years ago 🗓️

Bit of a full circle moment today for me. The first big cake I ever made, as something to do during the pandemic and my part time job vs the cake I made today, just under 3 years later.

Both gingerbread and salted caramel, both for my partner's work. They are the ones that initially encouraged me to pursue baking and cake decorating and (selflessly) volunteered to eat all of my baking experiments.

Although I do not wish to turn this into a full business (too stressful), I am very pleased with the progress I have made during these past years and I'm glad I get to make people happy with my cakes for special occasions 🎂

So here it is, the last cake I will make for The Careers Centre at the University of Leeds, full circle ⭕❤️

Not my usual style, I normally wouldn't go anywhere near fondant but I had to make an exception on this occasion!
I think I'll stick to buttercream haha

Inside is Black Forest Gateau inspired - 4 layers of chocolate sponge soaked with cherry brandy syrup, tart cherry compote and encased it a double cream buttercream 🍒🍫🥛

Hot chocolate bombs! ☕🎀
These made an adorable little addition to my Christmas boxes!

Might experiment with different flavours and colours but these are made from Cadburys Darkmilk for that perfect blend of sweet and richness, and stuffed full of marshmallows of course 🍫
