Good evening Douglas!

Stolen from a mate but this sums up how most of us feel…

I would like to highlight that this road closure has been an absolute disgrace on the councils part. It has caused sheer disruption to the local community which we understand was going to happen to an extent. Your article says that no HGV’s were to use this road yet there has been numerous instances where articulated HGV’s have met on the cornels entry forcing someone to reverse blind around a corner. This road is not suitable for a commercial van never mind a 44T HGV. The lack of a proper traffic management system being in place during night hours is appalling, surely a temporary traffic lighting system would have been a better measure?. As i said we understand this was going to cause disruption one way or another which is fine, but there could have been a better system in place for this considering this has forced traffic off of a main A road on to a single track road with blind corners. !!!…ROAD CLOSED…!!!

Just to clarify…

We are closed for a few days whilst the council do some work on the road through the village; apparently it will be closed to through traffic and HGVs until Monday 19th October and so we will re open our doors on Wednesday 21st.

Thanks for your birthday wishes. The football was great and I reckon I might be in with a shout for supplying their pies and sausage rolls.

If you want to get in contact then please wait until Tuesday 20th as I am quite enjoying the late nights in front of the telly, the lie ins past 5am, the afternoon drinking and the cooking at home.

Good morning Douglas!

Good news bad news time once again folks…

The bad news is that due to the road closures scheduled for the village this weekend we will close at 3pm on Saturday 10th October and reopen on Wednesday 21st October.

The good news is that Sunday is my birthday and so I will be enjoying a few days rest starting with the day in a corporate box at the football full of food and booze courtesy of a good friend. I may share some pictures if we win 🤞

When we come back you’ll notice a couple of new additions to the menu and also the return of some old favourites too. Usually this is time for cryptic clues but you’ll just have to wait for them too.

Phase One: Between Colonels Entry and Nursery Avenue, from Saturday 10 October for up to five days.

Phase Two: Between Main Street and Station Road (Douglas West), from Thursday 15 October for four days.

Good morning Douglas!

Nothing but the best ingredients are used in our Rice & Spicy Pakoras and Curries. This lovely black pudding is used to make Stornoway Black Pudding Pakora. We also have a NEW Slow Cooked Lamb Curry with Garlic & Chilli as well as all your other favourites too.

Available from 9am today and whilst stocks last.

All this plus our famous Sausage Rolls, Steak Balmoral Pies, Salt & Chilli Beef Pies, handmade breads and breakfast rolls and of course our infamous Cinnamon Swirls - naughty but nice.
