The summer holidays are nearly at an end! We have just over a week left until everyone is back to school....which means that the shed is reopening!

We will be back open on Friday 11th September and Saturday 12th September!

I've been researching all summer, and can't wait to bring you some new and exciting bakes! Honestly, I have really missed the shed and the weekly menus, so I'm looking forward to starting up again!

We are also getting into my favourite season of the year, especially for baking!

What would you guys like to see over the next few weeks/months?

So tonight was the Knaresborough Business Awards....

I was so honored to walk away with the award for Favourite Home Based Business for The Knaresborough Bake Shed !!!!


Honestly, it wasn't something I expected as I haven't even been open for 6 months, but it means the world.

Stepping away from coffee shop life, although something I have thought long and hard about, is something that is still scary as hell, and to be shown this amount of love is so rewarding and I truly thank everyone who voted for the shed!

Now that the shed is shut until September, I thought it would be a good time to reflect on the last three months!

Yup, the shed has been going for 3 months already...and it's been quite the journey so far. Even though I am taking a break over the holidays, the shed has been one of the best decisions I have made for myself and my path to working independently, away from the coffee shop.

The shed has given me a freedom to experiment and play with different recipes that perhaps won't work at the coffee shop, but are still so popular. It's also been great being able to bake and then just walk away, and trust in the community we have started to build.

The main question I get asked time and again is, do people pay what they should?? It is an honesty box system after all, so, do we keep it honest??

And the answer is a resounding YES! Every week people come to the shed, and every week we have been bang on the money at the end of the weekend, or in some cases, even lucky enough to have been left a few extra pennies. Even when customers have had issues with the card machine or not enough change in their wallet, they leave a note and ask for bank transfer details, or else drop the extra cash off the next day!

It's so wonderful to know that we can still trust and be trusted in return, and it's something I hope we can continue to do for a long time to come!

Did you know we can offer bespoke orders? Whether it's for a birthday, BBQ or barn dance....we can provide!

In the past couple of months I have made bakes for a birthday get together, brownie bags for some scouts, bakes for a bunny hunt after-party, a range of cakes and traybakes for a wedding, and a flapjack for an office fuddle!

I will always admit that I am not a wedding or celebration cake maker - that isn't my forte in the slightest. However even though I don't do wedding cakes, I am more than happy to do cakes for weddings, and the same can be said for birthdays, christenings, and anything in between!

Whether it's a brownie, cookies, sheet cakes, flapjacks or round sandwich cakes, I am always happy to have a chat and see what I can do! Obviously I specialise in the shed's gluten-free/dairy-free/vegan options, but I can tweak recipes to fit most dietary requirements.

All I ask is as much notice as possible to fit you into the baking schedule, and clear communication. So if you ever need a bake but don't know where to turn...head to the shed!

Only just realised I hadn't posted this week's menu (the end of term is nigh!)

Bake Shed Menu for 17th/18th July...

This is my last shed weekend for the summer holidays! Of course, you will still be able to get your cake fix at Number Thirteen (mon-sat 9-4) with plenty of Gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan friendly bakes available every day!
