What a day! ❤️

I’m still pinching myself after receiving a Special Recognition Award. It means so much to have the hard work behind Corner Cottage Bakery recognised.
I don’t often blow my own trumpet, but today I’m going to!

In the early days, I was up at 3:30am and often still working at 6 or 7 in the evening. Alongside running the bakery, I was doing everything myself, ordering, invoicing, the bookkeeping, wages, holidays, maternity, pensions and all the other behind-the-scenes jobs that people don’t always see.

There were so many long days, difficult decisions and moments when I questioned whether I could keep going. But I did. I kept showing up, kept learning and kept building.

Now, thanks to my wonderful team, I’m finally able to take more of a step back from the actual baking side of things. That doesn’t mean I work any less hard or care any less, it means I’ve built something strong enough to keep growing with an incredible team around me. I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved together.

This award means even more because of the work I’m now doing alongside the Esther Project@the_estherproject_wow. Through a 12-week baking course at Corner Cottage Bakery, we’re supporting women who have faced incredibly difficult circumstances, helping them learn new skills, grow in confidence and believe in themselves again.

Watching them “rise” again has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey.

So today, I’m allowing myself to feel proud, proud of the bakeries, proud of my team, proud of the women we’re supporting and proud of how far I’ve come.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me and Corner Cottage Bakery. This recognition means more than I can say. So thank you Sandra Garlick and thank you to all the wonderful ladies I met at the Women Who Achieve awards!
