Last night I was privileged to attend the customer service awards. These are national awards and are voted for by a panel of wedding industry professionals. I did not win the category, but I am honoured to have been a finalist in only my second year of business, going up against long established businesses.

I think pink is often thought of as a little girls colour, but this birthday cake was to celebrate a 60th birthday. Is pink the colour you would choose for a birthday cake? What do you think of gold leaves? Should they look more natural by being green? Let me know what you think in the comments.

Had an AMAZING day at Cake International. It was lovely to catch up with some of the fabulous mentors and cake industry greats that I have learnt from over the past few years in my cake decorating journey. I have bought lots of new pieces of equipment and some new innovative products that I can’t wait to try out.

Happy Anniversary to Beth and Allan. This is where my journey began… Beth asked me to make her wedding cake and I agreed, it was the first time I had made a stacked cake, first time working with ganache, first wedding cake and lots more firsts in this cake. But it inspired me to take up cake decorating as a hobby and then to start my business.

Leland proposed to Jana at Smeeton’s Tower in Plymouth. They asked if I could recreate their proposal for their wedding cake. Many people think they need to have a wedding cake in a traditional style, but you really can have whatever you want - even a lighthouse!
