I posted on my stories last month regarding cake stands as I’d had 3 deliveries in a 2 week period where the cake stand was either not level (example 1 above) or unsturdy - one was a big wooden tiered stand that literally wobbled from side to side, I regret that I didn’t take a little video of it swaying to and fro - but you get the picture (just without my horrified gasps).
Your wedding cake is an investment that creates a beautiful display at your wedding venue and when I deliver your cake I will do my utmost to use your chosen stand / table / props etc.
The above stand was not level. Cakes will lean / slide / end up on the floor if they are not displayed on a sturdy level surface, especially in warm conditions. I did manage to make this stand level by propping it up with parts of the box that I delivered the cake in and I used the stand to display the cake. At one venue I had to reject 2 stands for being wonky, it was 28’c that day and no air con in the room 😣😣 and I had a 4 tier fondant iced cake to display.
I have many stands available to hire. If you would like to purchase a stand please do ask my advice. I will only recommend , .options and to you as I know that these stands are designed to hold the weight of tiered wedding cakes.
Cheaper stands can be bought elsewhere but if I am concerned at the time of delivery that a stand could potentially result in damage to your cake I will not use it. I will discuss my concerns with your venue and we will find a solution to display your cake beautifully and safely for you ensuring that it remains in pristine condition for the duration of your wedding day. I do carry a spirit level in my van.
If you are using the cake stand supplied by your venue in their package please ask to view it, not all venues purchase stands that are actually suitable to hold heavy tiered cakes.
If I use a cake stand that isn’t level or secure and this results in damage to your cake that is my responsibility so my decision not to use it will be to ensure that your cake is safe from damage/collapse
