A note about what makes weddings great (and spoiler alert, it's not Instagram).
We've been to many, many weddings in our lives, from shoestring budget celebrations to lavish, no-expense-spared, mind-blowing extravaganzas.
But what makes a wedding really memorable, enjoyable and joyful isn't any of the stuff you see on Pinterest boards.
Yes, I would say non-negotiable are decent food provided by the bridal party, and a decent range of drinks available either for free or to buy. Also comfortable seating arrangements of one kind or another.
Oh and a cake of course 🤣
But everything else is pretty much an added extra. What makes a great wedding is joy, warmth, laughter and relationships.
You don't need all the frills. It doesn't matter if you don't have all the fancy add-ons that Instagram tells you you need.
You just need the people you want with you and to actually love the person you're marrying and really mean it when you say your vows.
I would personally say you could also do with a great band or playlist, but then we are biased and known as rent-a-crowd.
Have a wedding that gets people celebrating like this 👇 not because you have a content creator and a butterfly release but because your friends are so utterly overjoyed that you got married.
And when it comes to spending your budget, prioritise what matters to you. If it's dancing, spend it on a band. If it's food, splash out on a fancy menu. If it's the cake, get a lush bespoke designed four-tier beauty. If it's a car, get an amazing car. Don't feel like you have to spend money on everything just because someone on a reel tells you it matters.
What really matters isn't the wedding, but the marriage. So start as you mean to go on 💍
