The Wee Croft Shop

The Wee Croft Shop Open from the last Sunday of April to the last Sunday of September and always 1 to 5pm Every week there is fresh cakes, bakes, breads, biscuits, puddings etc.

The Wee Croft Shop was originally an idea I had to sell some of the excess fresh produce we grew in the Summer months and very quickly became one of the main outlets for my baking from my main business - Capability Browns. And then as and when available there is also fresh veg, fruits, herbs, salads, honey and eggs (all produced by ourselves so is very seasonal)
People tend to turn up early, mainl

y for the bread so if it is bread you are after, make sure you are here for 1pm or shortly afterwards. There is a different menu each Sunday and it will always be published the night before on my FB page. oh and there is a great view so if the weather is nice, feel free to bring a blanket and hang around for a whle.

Things on the croft are looking good thanks to Mr Browns hard work. He remembered to take some pictures for me yesterday

We have 8 x varieties of tatties in this year - these ones are one of the main crops and are called Apache so they wont be ready till later in the year.

The gooseberries are from a new bush so looking good but not many this year. Mr Brown calls gooseberries Grozets, which is the old Scottish name for them.

And the apples are looking great. Our orchard now has many varieties of apple, pear, plum, greengage, gooseberry, blackcurrant, redcurrant, cherry and one Quince tree.

Oh and there is more rhubarb ready, so look out for rhubarb, grozet and tattie recipes (but not necessarily together) x

Up at the croft with Mr Brown today, trying out my new wheelbarrow!!

We got 2 very large Sitka spruce trees taken down last November and using the chippings for mulch on top of seaweed.

This is the rhubarb bed, and you can see the rhubarb starting to rise already...
