Save Stanley Road Car Park

Save Stanley Road Car Park Save Stanley Road Car Park located n the Bakers Arms area in Walthamstow in the Borough of Waltham Forest from being used for any other purpose.

The local community in the Bakers Arms area of the Waltham Forest borough are alarmed at the council's plans to take away the Stanley Road Car Park, which serves the local business community, a vibrant church, and visitors to the area - on the premise of helping to alleviate housing shortage by constructing homes for 30 families. This planned action is not in the local community's interest. Our FB

page is to make your views heard and to present a strong and united message to the Council that the Stanley Road Car Park is our lifeline continued business as well as community-benefiting activities of KICC, (the church situated adjacent to the car park), among others.

Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) speaks about his church purchasing the old cinema at Bakers Arms in 2002 and taking nearly two years to bring it to acceptable standards set by English Heritage.

He narrates, "The Planning Authority in Waltham Forest agreed we could use the building for church providing the KICC congregation used the Stanley Road car park and did not use local residential roads... Naturally, we signed up to these obligations."

Today, KICC caters for over 1,000 people over the Sunday
morning services and holds other services during the week, all open to the public. It provides a wide range of voluntary services to the community including Legal Counselling, Career Advice, Pre-Marital Counselling, Bereavement Counselling, Welfare Provision and support, Extra Curriculum School Support, Parenting Classes, Youth Work and more.

"We are now a fully integrated part of the Bakers Arms Community. We know many of the traders. They are our friends. .... Between us all, we cannot allow this [car park closure] to happen."

WATCH THIS great video made this month (in a 1930's style) ...
WIth the rich history of the Balers Arms area - the erstwhile great pub, the almshouses, ... - what remains today is a car park conveniently located right behind a maze of shops. No wonder these drivers are furious about any plans to close the car park. It does not appear that local MP (Stella Creasey), Council Leader (Clare Coghill) and Deputy Council Leader (Clyde Loakes) care about the community there. Get the message out to them today - this car park is not for the taking. London Borough of Waltham Forest

"The green giant and all the little greenies are at it again. [Saw and read the] article in the Bakers Arms Citizen paper I laughed so much I was crying, but it's all true. I do hope Councillor Loakes rides around the borough on his bike showing off his medal from the EU for completely F-----g our roads up with mini Holland will it be renamed after Brexit to Loakes folly. Just remember when the next borough elections to vote to remove these councillors."

Don't Destroy All These Businesses and Community ...

Closing the Stanley Road Car Park will have a devastating effect on local traders and the community as a whole. It is the last available parking facility in the area.

Every day, the car park is heavily used with vehicles driven by shoppers, traders and their employees.

Our appeal is to the Chief Executive of Waltham Forest Council to think again. Don’t destroy the most cohesive and harmonious community in Waltham Forest.
