Cake shed…….
I’ve been toying with this idea for quite a while and I think it’s time I put it into practise.
No not a cake shed as such, I’ve certainly not got the time nor inclination for little bakes and breads and there are plenty of very good ones in the local area, but I do need a cake collection point. I try and set collection times but I think because I work from home it is assumed that the collection time can be flexible 🙈 It really isn’t, I still need to go out shopping for stock, walk my dog, I have appointments to attend too, run errands etc but most importantly I work out my daily schedule around collections. I can’t be decorating a cake when someone turns up, firstly for health and hygiene reasons and secondly if I’m part way through decorating a buttercream cake I can’t stop and if someone turns up unannounced then I have to scrape it all off and restart which is time consuming and very frustrating.
So I’m thinking for collections Monday-Friday I can box and wrap the cakes and pop them in the shed. I prefer face to face collection so I’ll still ask a collection time and if not collected within 10 mins of the arranged time I will then pop it in the shed to be collected from there so I can get on with my day and customers aren’t rushed to collect if running late.
Saturday mornings will still remain as open collection from my kitchen between 9.30-11 when I then close for the weekend. But if not collected by 11 they will go in the shed too.
Of course this will all be mentioned to customers at the time of order.
Thanks for reading and let me know your opinions as I’m a little worried it seems rude 👩🏼🍳👩🏼🍳
