Okay, the glow-up! ✨

Remember my little NO JAM panic? Here’s how the final (jam-less, I promise!) Victoria sponge turned out.

Vanilla Victoria sponge, blush pink finish, handmade fondant flowers and stems — all made by me. The customer added the freshest touch with blueberries and it just pulled everything together. 🩷🫐

The brief: Victoria sponge. Pinks. NO JAM.
Me: ...you had me at jam? 😅. I read it, ignored the most important word, made a whole strawberry compote from scratch and was feeling quite proud of myself.

Woke up to decorate, re-read the brief and... pure panic.

So I put my big girl pants on and baked a SECOND set. No jam this time. Promise.

Plot twist: no cakes were harmed. The first batch found a very happy home with my neighbours (who I owed a strawberry Victoria sponge anyway) and both cakes were thoroughly enjoyed.

Nothing went to plan, but it all worked out in the end. 🩷🎂
