Hello September, hello Sourdough September!
For those new to the campaign, this is the month we give out FREE sourdough starter and instructions on how to make your own loaf at home! Just bring a little pot (with a lid) in and ask at the counter. The team are briefed and will be very happy to help you!
Sourdough September 2026 is the 14th year of raising awareness (and dough), encouraging people to:
🍞 Make their own sourdough bread at home
🥖 buy genuine sourdough bread from a local, independent ‘Real Bread’ bakeries, like Bluebird Bakery.
🥪 Support the The Real Bread Campaign’s charitable work
Did you know that The Real Bread Campaign coined the word ‘sourfaux’ back in 2015, to highlight the corporate hijack of ‘sourdough’ to promote bread produced by other means? Well, now you do!
