Fresh on the counter this week “cream tea bun” soft enriched dough rolled with fruity strawberry creme patisserie, topped with smooth clotted cream & cream cheese frosting, finished with strawberry jam. And of course CREAM FIRST!!

A decade of homemade cakes, freshly prepared sandwiches and early mornings has earned a Honiton café one of the region's top honours. 🥪🏆

James' Patisserie and Sandwiches has been named Sandwich Shop of the Year for the South West in the Prestige Awards, recognising owner James Gardiner's commitment to quality, locally sourced ingredients and homemade food. The award came as a complete surprise after the business was anonymously nominated by a customer.

James opened the café in 2016 after moving to Devon and spent the first five years running almost every aspect of the business on his own. Today, the award-winning café is known for its made-to-order sandwiches, homemade cakes, locally roasted coffee and friendly atmosphere, while also supplying baked goods to other businesses across the South West.

Despite the recognition, James says it's the support of his loyal customers and the Honiton community that means the most. He continues to experiment with new recipes, seasonal treats and wholesale baking, while keeping Sundays firmly reserved for family time after ten successful years at the heart of the town. ❤️
