Today’s the day — Open Farm Sunday is here 👍

We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone to the farm today.

Come and have a wander round, meet the animals and see a little bit of what we get up to here day to day.

You’ll see Dan, Oliver, James & myself around the farm — so do come and say hello if you spot us 😊

We’ve got the farm talk running from **10am–12pm**, the BBQ will be on using our own beef and pork, and we’ll also have fresh grass-fed Dexter beef available, along with frozen mince deals to take home.

There’s free parking in the field on site, and all location details are in your booking information.

If you haven’t booked yet, there’s still time:

If you’re joining us tomorrow, here’s everything you need to know…

We still have spaces available, but tickets do need to be booked in advance so we can manage numbers.

We’ll be on the field from **10am–12pm** for a relaxed farm walk — come and meet the Dexters, our outdoor pigs, sheep, and hopefully little Jimmy, our bottle-fed calf 🐄
You’ll also be able to meet our beekeeper and learn a little bit about the bees, honey production and the part they play here on the farm.

We’ll also have hot food available — beef burgers and hot dogs using our own farm-reared meat.

Please wear suitable footwear as we’ve had rain here and the field is a little wet in places.

Parking is not in the farm yard — parking is in the field and the what3words location is:

///skims.panoramic.torso

All directions are also included in your booking information.

Ticket prices:
Adults £5 — includes a £5 voucher to spend on the day
Children 5–15 £2 — includes a £2 voucher
Under 5s free

Vouchers can be used on the BBQ, fresh produce, or towards our fresh family beef boxes.

We’ll have **3 fresh family beef boxes** available to order and collect tomorrow.

Each box includes:
1 roasting joint
500g mince
500g diced beef
2 best steaks
500g braising steak

All vacuum packed, labelled and ready for your fridge or freezer.

We’ll also have fresh steaks and mince available on the day too.

You can secure a family beef box here:

Would be lovely to see some of you tomorrow 😊

Today has been one of those days where I’ve just had to stop for a minute and take it all in.

When we first decided to try offering our Dexter Reserve as whole, half and quarter animals, I honestly didn’t know how it would be taken.

Would people really want to buy a whole cow?
Would a half or quarter be too much?
Would customers understand the value in buying beef this way?

Turns out… yes.

Today we sent out a whole Dexter, a half Dexter, a quarter Dexter and a hogget box — all heading off across the country.

And I am genuinely so humbled by it.

I didn’t even get time to take proper photos of it all, which probably says everything about how the day went.

It has been a huge learning curve. Let’s be honest, we nearly didn’t have enough Woolcool insulation, ice packs or even boxes. Having not done it on this scale before, we didn’t quite realise just how much we’d need… but we did it.

Everything was packed, checked, loaded and collected, and all being well it should reach our customers tomorrow.

Nationwide delivery still scares me a little, if I’m honest. Once it leaves us, I lose control of it — and that’s hard when you care so much about what you’re sending. But we’ve done everything we can from our side, and now we have to trust the courier to get it where it needs to be, when it needs to be there.

What I love most about this way of selling beef is that the whole carcass is used properly — right down to the bones. Nothing wasted. Every cut has a purpose.

It’s exactly how it should be.

When you buy from us, you’re not just buying a box of meat. You’re supporting our little family, our farm, our animals, and everything we’re trying to build here.

The Dexter Reserve has gone so well that the next one will be coming in July, alongside our usual family beef boxes and steak boxes.

Now I just need to get organised with pork and hogget next!

And don’t worry — we’ll still have fresh grass-fed Dexter beef available at Open Farm Sunday too.

Thank you, honestly. Every order, every message, every bit of support means so much.

Open Farm Sunday is getting close now…

We’re busy getting everything ready here for Sunday, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming people onto the farm.

It’s a relaxed morning where you can come and have a wander, meet the animals and see a little bit of what goes on here day to day.

You’ll be able to meet the pigs, cows and sheep, chat to us about how we raise them, and learn a bit more about where your food comes from.

We’ll also have our beekeeper here, so you can find out more about the bees, honey production and the part they play on the farm.

There’ll be a farm talk running from **10am–12pm**, and the BBQ will be on using our own beef and pork 🔥

We’ll also have fresh grass-fed Dexter beef available to buy on the day, along with frozen mince deals to take home.

Tickets need to be booked in advance so we can manage numbers and plan food properly.

Adult tickets are **£5** and include a **£5 voucher** to spend on the BBQ or fresh produce.
Children 5–15 are **£2** and include a **£2 voucher**.
Under 5s are free.

There’s free parking in the field on site, and full location details are included when you book.

If you’re coming to Open Farm Sunday…

You’ll be able to meet the pigs, cows and sheep and see how they’re raised.

Not from behind a screen — properly up close.

It’s something a lot of people don’t get to see, especially with farming these days.

Tickets are in the link in our bio if you fancy it 👍

This is Vera ❤️

She’s our oldest Dexter at 17 years old — and still going strong.

A couple of weeks ago she gave us this lovely bull calf, and as always, she did it with no trouble at all… she’s a proper old pro.

Dexters are known for their longevity, but to still be calving like this at 17 is something special.

This will be Vera’s last calf now — she’s done her job and she deserves to take it easy.

She’s out in a quieter field with another mum and their calves, plenty of grass and peace to just enjoy life.

We do already have some of Vera’s heifers, who now have calves of their own… but this little bull is something else.

His colour, his shape… everything about him says he could be a keeper.

So now we’ve got a bit of a decision to make — whether to keep him entire and carry on Vera’s line, or not.

Time will tell… but for now, we’re just enjoying watching them both doing so well ❤️

A little reminder about Open Farm Sunday…

If you fancy a few hours out in the countryside, you’re very welcome to come along.

You’ll be able to meet the animals, have a wander round the farm and see what we get up to day to day.

It’s all very relaxed — nothing too structured, just a nice, simple day out.

We’ll have the BBQ on as well 🔥 using our own beef and pork.

Tickets are £5 for adults and that includes a £5 voucher to spend on the day 👍

It just helps us manage numbers and make sure we’ve got enough food for everyone.

If you’re thinking of coming, tickets are in the link in our bio 👇

Would be lovely to see some of you there 😊

This is the reality behind farming…

Last year’s dry summer has had a bigger impact than people might realise.

We simply didn’t get the crops we needed.
The grass didn’t grow as it should, and our barley and wheat didn’t perform as well as we’d hoped.

And because straw is a by-product of those crops, that’s been in really short supply too.

For us, that matters — because our cattle and sheep come indoors over winter and rely on that hay and straw for feed and bedding.

It’s meant a lot more planning, a bit of juggling, and making sure we’ve got enough to get through.

That’s farming — you’re always working ahead, but so much of it depends on things you can’t control.

You just make the best decisions you can with what you’ve got.

We are already planning this winter....

It’s not always straightforward, but it’s all part of it.

It’s around 23–28kg of our grass-fed beef, all cut how you want it — steaks, joints, mince, slow cooking cuts… whatever suits your kitchen.

Everything is fresh, vacuum packed and ready for the freezer.

Ready around 7th June (collection or delivery available)

If you’ve been thinking about it, now’s probably the time 👍
