Hello! I am just showing “end of the long shift after long two week face” as I would like to start a conversation please. We’ve had a bit of a strange week - quiet when I predicted busy and super busy when all signs were suggesting a slow day. My question to you, if you have a moment, what are your reasons for choosing particular day to visit Leavened and what factors make you want to stay at home/go somewhere else? I am usually looking at the weather forecast, time in the month (like pay yay!) etc. but there is no clear pattern and if anything - whatever I say it is usually the opposite. Please share any thoughts!

Bye bye busy summer months! It’s definitely back to school as we marked our quietest day ever in the bakery today!
August was beautiful, difficult, heavy on our bodies but also made us stronger than ever. We now open our hearts and minds to flowing with some changes, embracing the cooler months and being curious about what comes next. And, as autumn is definitely my favourite season, bring it on we are so ready 🧡

What a wonderful bunch of people joined us for baking workshops today! It’s been a pleasure sharing everything I know with you all and chat at lunchtime. May your starters be lively and your loaves full of goodness and a source of joy. 🧡
To anyone interested in workshop with us please note that there aren’t any dates available at the moment but there will be plenty more and different types of classes in the near future.

Please note that we are now closed for summer break and will come back refreshed and regrouped on 27th August.
Big shout out to my team holding it together whilst we were short staffed and really busy. Huge thank you to our Gem Z for covering both bread and bun section depending on what was required, Jodie Buns for singing along whilst shaping the most perfect pastries, Lou Lou for being best at “louising” and keeping me energised with humour, Laura for working extra hard over your last weeks at leavened, Oli for being the best bread sommelier we could have, Megan for silently just getting on with it with good spirit and top notch coffees, Esther for always making sure the coffee machine is at its highest capacity and never ending excitement over every single little thing, Hannah for being amazing you, working hard even if sometimes a bit tired and always being a wonderful company and my daughter Lena for the weekend support, spotless pastry trays, not minding the boring cleaning job and telling me that her croissant shaping is better than mine😁. Thank you all🧡

Please note that this week is the last before our short summer break (one week only!) We need that time to breathe a little, regroup as well as simply rest. We will be open as normal this week, Wednesday till Sunday 8 am till 3 pm and then back at your service on Thursday 27th August.

I can’t quite remember why I stopped printing pictures. It was probably a combination of loving photography and then the sadness of putting my camera down because it got to heavy for my MS hands to keep it steady and carry more than just myself (a proper kit weighs quite a bit!).
I have ordered these prints to decorate our bakery wall and a massive wave of joy and excitement went through me as I’ve opened the package. How beautiful are these captured moments, loaves of bread and countless buns we’ve created over the years. I feel rather emotional!
And the last thing I wanted to show you is the largest print that I’ve turned into our new logo. Don’t worry, the rabbit will stay on our cups, it is our mascot but this simple drawing captures what we love the most and hopefully will, at some point, represent our brand well🧡.

Just a reminder for all of you here (and for myself) that life is full of beauty that comes to us in a form of simple things. I think we forget about it way too often and if we could just challenge ourselves to notice and acknowledge one good/beautiful/breathtaking/nice thing a day, we would feel much happier. And that happiness could just spread onto other people. Because it always does. Like today, when I stopped on the side of the road on the way to the bakery, to appreciate and capture this sunrise - it made me happy. And then I made these unplanned, summer pastries which resulted in a few smiles in the queue. These were one off for now, not available tomorrow but will return if you want.

Thanks ladies for another amazing workshop today! It has been a great pleasure to share my knowledge and spend time with you all!
This was the last sourdough workshop till the end of August and some new dates will be released some time in July so keep your eyes peeled!
