The latest in my framed collection are these foxgloves.

I love foxgloves, especially the variety these were inspired by - Digitalis purpurea ‘Dalmatian Peach’ . I would love a garden full of towering foxgloves, but every time I’ve planted them, they never return.

It’s the soft colour and the speckled detail in the throats that I’m drawn to. They always make me think of Beatrix Potter and old country cottages.

Here, I’ve tried to capture that and arrange them so they feel like you could walk through them, push them to the side, and find more beyond.

I like the way framing them like this creates shadows and depth, with the light shifting the feel of the piece throughout the day.

Maybe one day I’ll get them to come back in the garden. Any tips?!

Until then …. Paper it is!!!

I finished this piece a few weeks ago -or so I thought.

But something stopped me from sharing it. I couldn’t quite place it, only that it wasn’t ready.

In the end, it took very little. A small tweak. A single stem turned.

And that was enough.

Now it feels as it should.

Lily of the Valley.

I’ve been quietly working on this over the past few days, painting and aging the frame, adjusting stems and shaping leaves, and trying not to overwork the detail.

There’s always a point where you could keep going, adding more, refining more - but it starts to lose something if you don’t stop at the right time.

I think I’ve reached that point!

This piece is available now on my website.

My Magnolia Collection.

It all began with a chunky, slightly wonky, stoneware vase (or bottle!) that caught my eye from amongst all the pretty, delicate china bits and pieces in a local charity shop. As soon as I saw it, I knew it needed a magnolia branch.

That was the beginning of my Magnolia Collection which available on my website. You can also read more about the collection on my blog, Studio Journal.

I’ll add the links to the comments.

Well, it is Magnolia season.
