What a fabulous morning yesterday at Mercure Hull Grange Park for another brilliant Civilised Speed Networking event, hosted by The Business Culture HEY! 🥰

It was an absolute pleasure for Elliegantly Made to sponsor one of the tables, and a HUGE thank you to the lovely Craig from Craigs Special Occasions Balloon Man Hull for being my timekeeper and keeping us all in check! 🥴😂

It was so lovely to catch up with lots of familiar faces, but equally lovely to meet some new ones, hear about their businesses and make some new connections.

That’s what I love about networking. You never quite know who you’re going to meet, what conversations you’ll have or where those connections might lead.

A big thank you to Michelle Bowler and Tony Bowler for organising another fabulous event and to everyone who joined us at our table. It was an absolute pleasure meeting you all.

I swear this week has had about 100 days in it! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Eight orders, three weddings, five corporate commissions and quite frankly, I don’t know what day it is anymore! 🥴😂

And just to make life interesting, we only got home from our cruise at 4pm on Saturday and by 6pm I was back at EMHQ ganaching cakes ready for Monday’s wedding!

A HUGE thank you to Ray, who was at home holding the fort and very kindly finished his holiday a little earlier than me to make sure the baking was done ready for me to hit the ground running, what a legend he is! 🥰💜

And THIS gorgeous creation was one of the reasons why!

On Monday morning we delivered this three-tier wedding cake to Sandburn Hall and Tykes Restaurant for Jake & Mark’s special day.

It’s no secret that I absolutely LOVE making sugar flowers, and the autumnal colours looked stunning with our Prop Options floating tier. But I have to say, I adored creating the hand-painted details just as much!

Huge congratulations to Jake & Mark! Thank you for trusting us with such an important part of your special day. 💜

And as for the rest of this week’s creations… just WAIT until you see one of the corporate cakes we made.

140 EGGS went into that one order alone!! 😱… and before you ask no I’m not getting chickens!!!!🥚🤣

I think I might need another holiday! 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

It looks as though we’ll be taking a little trip up to Durham next month! 😱🥂

We’ve only gone and made it through to the REGIONAL FINALS of The Wedding Industry Awards 2027!!

I’m absolutely blown away and just can’t wipe the smile of my face! 😊

We work so incredibly hard here at Elliegantly Made to give our gorgeous couples the very best we possibly can. From that first enquiry to the moment we deliver their wedding cake, every little detail matters to us.

So to receive recognition like this really does mean the world. 🥹💜

A HUGE thank you to everyone who nominated us and to all our wonderful couples who took the time to vote for us. We genuinely couldn’t do this without you.

EMHQ has been a little bit bonkers since I got back from holiday. Straight back into wedding cakes, sugar flowers, corporate orders, admin and what feels like approximately 4,762 emails and messages. 😂

We ARE still working our way through the inbox, so thank you for bearing with us. 💜 If you’re waiting for a reply and think I may have missed you, please do give me a little nudge. I promise I won’t be offended!

In the meantime, I spotted this little trend doing the rounds and obviously I HAD to have a go…

The challenge was simple. Take a blank cake (I’ve popped one in the first photo), give it to ChatGPT and ask it to decorate it with everything it knows about you. 🫣😂

So obviously I handed mine over to CBC and told him to go for it! And I have to say, he knows me rather well. 😂

My boys, Chester, cake (obvs!), tea, cruises, holidays, cocktails, walking, flowers, my permanently attached iPad, my camera, and he even managed to get my heart-covered work leggings in there. 🤣

I’m not entirely sure whether I should be impressed or slightly concerned😳😂

Although I think “Big Plans Always” might be the most accurate bit of the whole thing. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

So now I want to see YOURS!…

🚢 HOMEWARD BOUND… 💜

I’m enjoying my last day at sea today after the most amazing week with Tammy & Gayle celebrating Tammy’s 50th birthday. 🥂🎂

Lots of laughs, LOTS of cocktails, new places, fabulous food and some very special memories made along the way. 🥰

But do we ever REALLY switch off completely when we run our own businesses? 🤔😂

I’ve definitely tried, and for the most part I think I’ve done pretty well! But with a VERY busy week waiting for us at EMHQ, including some rather large corporate orders and wedding cakes, there may have been a few sneaky orders placed from the middle of the ocean to make sure everything we need is waiting for us. 🙄😂🎂

The inbox is also looking rather busy! 😬

If you’re waiting for a reply from me, thank you for your patience. I haven’t forgotten you, I promise. I’ll be working my way through everything as soon as I’m back at EMHQ.

For today though, I’m going to enjoy this view and squeeze every last drop out of what has been a fabulous week with two gorgeous friends. 💜

By the time this post goes live, I should hopefully have a cocktail in my hand, standing on the deck of a cruise ship at our sail away party with my best friend of 25+ years, celebrating her 50th birthday. 🥹🥂

So just a little heads up that replies from Elliegantly Made might be a little slower than usual over the next week… because The Cake Lady has officially left the building. 😂🎂👋🏼

Tammy and I have done LOTS of holidays together over the years. We’ve travelled with Ray, our mums, our families and made so many fabulous memories along the way.

But amazingly, this is the first time the two of us have actually been let loose on our own (for any amount of time) since our very first holiday together, 25 years ago in Ayia Napa.

And judging by the photographic evidence from that particular holiday… I’m not entirely sure letting us loose again is a sensible idea. 🤣🤣… What could possibly go wrong?! 🙄😂🍹

Running Elliegantly Made means the absolute world to me. I love my business, I love what we’ve built and, after 11 years, I genuinely still love what I do.

But life can’t always be about the next cake, the next email, the next wedding or the never-ending admin. 🥴😂

Sometimes you have to slow down, switch off and spend precious time with the people you love.

So for the next week, I’m going to do exactly that.

The cakes can wait.

Let the 50th celebration continue Tammy. Now let’s see if we can behave ourselves a little better than we did in Ayia Napa…
