We tried something new with an improvised game of table top ice hockey using books as borders and boxes as shooters. There was a lot of hilarity and gusto in the group, and players were determined to keep it going at all costs. Great for hand eye co-ordinaton, competition and most importantly

🍂 Welcome September with Us! 🍂

As we say goodbye to August and welcome the start of September, we have a fantastic week planned full of fun, friendship and activities for everyone to enjoy! 😊

🧠 We'll be keeping minds active with plenty of brain-teasing games and challenges throughout the week.

🎶 Join us for a singing session where we can enjoy favourite songs together and have lots of fun.

⛪ A special highlight of the week will be a visit from Grace Church on Wednesday, and we're looking forward to spending time together and enjoying their company.

We can't wait to share a wonderful few days filled with laughter, learning and great memories as we begin a new month. ❤️

Residents had a very creative and sensory morning when they all made some wonderful airdry clay scentables for their wardrobes and clothes drawers 👃🍋🍊🌷
They made shell imprints, flowers and models which will now be left to dry until Monday.
Once dry, each piece will have essential oil dripped on it to give off a lasting, lovely aroma.
The residents enjoyed smelling the oils trying to guess what they were. The peppermint was the most recognised followed by lavender 🥰
Janice said she'd really enjoyed the morning and was surprised at how quick the time had gone ☺️♥️

A day at the beach was brought to Oakwood Court today so we were thankful the sun was shining ☀️🏖
Residents enjoyed seaside themed bingo, beachball conversation catch and exercises to coastal themed songs this morning .
They shared stories from their pasts with Hilary describing her amazing flight on Concorde! She also flew in a glider which she said was wonderful.
After a busy morning residents were ready for their fish and chip lunch which was delivered and served in the traditional way (not quite newspaper though 😃)

It was time for a game of velcro darts this morning using little coloured balls. Residents gathered their concentration and had a laser focus as they competed against their friends. Many managed to
surprise themselves when they hit the 100 point bullseye. Well done one and all!

In the afternoon, residents played matching the song to the musical and guess the song and artist from the hummed tune. There were many knowing looks on faces, some had the names at the tip of their tongues and others managed to guess straight away from shows including phantom of the opera, westside story and les miserables.

To celebrate National Dog Day today we welcomed several fur babies into the home which the residents enjoyed seeing 🐶🐶🐶🥰
Percy the Cavapoo, Ted the Schitzu and Maisie the terrier lapped up all the attention from the residents and staff as well as all the treats given as they went round to say hello 🥰
It was wonderful to see how animated everyone became on seeing and stroking the dogs, with many residents sharing memories of dogs they'd owned in the past ♥️
We rounded the morning off with a dog themed quiz and all agreed it had been a lovely activity 🐶🐶🐶♥️🥰
