🖤 Holiday Time 🖤

Having somehow survived the sun-scorched chaos of the summer holidays ☀️🖤 and before the festive madness of Christmas begins creeping from the shadows 🎄🦇… I’m escaping for a couple of days away with my children.

Whether travelling with the children can truly be called a holiday remains one of life’s darker mysteries… 🤔😂 But a change of scenery, a little breathing space, and perhaps the resurrection of my sanity are very much needed.

🕯️✨ THE DOORS WILL BE CLOSED FRIDAY 4TH & SATURDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER ✨🕯️

Normal service shall rise from the dead once more on Tuesday 8th September at 9am — hopefully accompanied by a slightly more refreshed, considerably less haunted version of me. 🖤😂

Apparently I’ve been demoted. Management now has fans. 😂

For anyone who hasn’t met the real boss yet, my 6-year-old daughter Esme has been spending some of her summer holidays “working” in the cake shop.

And by “working”, I mean confidently greeting customers, chatting to everyone like she owns the place, serving up top-tier customer service and generally making me question why I’m even on the payroll. 😂

Today, one of our lovely customers came in specifically asking to see management.

Not me.

Esme. 😂

She’d even brought her a jewellery-making set as a gift, purely because she thinks she’s brilliant. 🥹

Unfortunately, management was unavailable today due to a well-earned day off. Apparently being six is exhausting when you’re simultaneously running a cake empire.

Her current responsibilities include:
Being fabulous.
Bossing me around.
Charming the customers.
Maintaining snack levels.
Operating the till and card machine — which I am apparently no longer allowed to touch.
And attending approximately zero meetings.

Honestly, I’m not sure whether she works for me anymore or whether I work for her. 😂

I’ll make sure her gift is passed on when Her Majesty returns to the premises. 👑

I genuinely have the loveliest customers. Thank you so much for making my little boss feel so special.

Although please stop encouraging her.

She’s already got better customer retention than me, complete control of the card machine, and I’m fairly certain she’ll be asking for 50% of the business and a company car by Christmas. 😂
