As a cake maker, I’m seeing a lot of this Terry bakes scandal on my timeline, and I just want to say how incredibly disgusting the whole thing is.

When I do a release of something, such as Mother’s Day treat boxes etc. I have a limit on how many I accept. Because pure COMMON SENSE tells me there isn’t enough time to be able to accept an unlimited amount, let alone allllll the other factors that tell you not to carry on accepting orders. Even if you don’t know your limit yet, you use your fully functioning brain to estimate.

This guy knew exactly what he was doing. He has seen the orders rolling in and hitting his bank and he has spent it. He doesn’t want to spend out on ingredients, boxes, tools (because although a lot of people don’t believe it, us bakers spend a LOT of money on all of these, our quote reflects this. It’s not just £4 for a slice of brownie. It’s everything in the background.)

I am so sick of seeing people defend him, because if this was a coffee shop on the end of your street who took your money for your coffee on a busy day and then stood up and said “right, everyone out. It’s too busy we can’t cope , you’re not getting your coffee or a refund. It’s not my problem.” There would be an uproar. But because he’s got some kind of likeable (apparently) personality on the internet, he gets a free pass 🤷🏻‍♀️ he’s had a lovely holiday and new car on these poor people’s dime.

It’s horrendous and absolutely should not be being accepted by anyone.
