Hello everyone! Just quick note to let everyone know that I've been taking an extended hiatus from Cakes By Alex since October last year, but my post seems to have gone and I've had a few enquiries over the last couple of weeks!

All is very good! As many of you know, I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I don't have as much time to dedicate to creating your cakes to the levels I like to after a little promotion in the day job!

So, I'd like to thank all my clients who've trusted me to create their special cakes over the last few years, I've really enjoyed making those delicious treats for you and your loved ones.

I really hope this post stays up this time, and if there's anyone who's enquired since October and I haven't got back to you, I am sorry and I hope you managed to find someone to create your bakes for you!

🙏🏼 THANK YOU! Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who's asked me to create a cake for them in 2024.

🗓️ The diary is now fully booked for the rest of this year, and up to the end of January 2025.

Thanks once again...it's hard work, and it takes time to do what I do, but it's fun. Feel free to get in touch about any celebration cakes you might like next year, and get booked in early!

💫 A little throw back to summer (remember summer? We did have a summer, didn't we?).

I was honoured to be asked to create this super Star Wars cake in June, excitedly agreeing to do the robot BB-8! Then...I found out BB-8 isn't your run of the mill robot shape!

❤️ However, I loved the small challenge of making this cake, and the results came out pretty well!

🦁 How cute is Caly the Lion?

🎂 Asked (by the hubby) to make this chocolatey character cake for Caledonian Travel's Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning on Tuesday.

Had a lot of fun making this fondant and sugar paste Caly the Lion, their adorable mascot, and from what I'm told the cake was a 'roaring' success...just like the day itself, where their team brought in a host of homemade goodies like sausage rolls, scones, cheese and bacon twists, curry and desserts...!

Fantastic work by everyone involved, raising money for a great cause! ❤️💙

Well, it's been a busy few months over winter and, once again, Facebook has been neglected 😪

So, here's a Star Wars cake that I created for Elise's 6th birthday.

Bespoke, made to order, fresh and completed on the day of collection, this was another fun cake to do!

2024 is already seeing a lot of bookings coming in. Please don't leave it until the last minute, I usually need between 4 and 6 weeks to make sure I have availability!

Now, that's true...but this morning, I woke up to something truly magical – my very first Christmas cake enquiry of 2023! 🎅🏼❄️ I couldn't help but be surprised by the early festive spirit. It's a reminder that winter is soon going to be quietly making its way into our lives...(anyone put their heating on yet..? 🤣)

The holiday season is down the road, around the corner...and maybe down the road a little bit more... But I'm thrilled to announce that I'm now accepting Christmas cake enquiries! 🎁✨

🎂 So, although it wasn't Christmas....I did get asked if I could create a cake with The Grinch wearing a Manchester United kit for someone, whose friend was celebrating a 33rd birthday.

❤️ I loved the challenge, and suggested we had the Grinch popping out of the top of the cake - and here is the finished result!

🍫 This one was a chocolate sponge cake, with chocolate buttercream, a hand-made fondant 'Grinch' and a green topper attached to the front using edible glue.
