At Brickyard Bakery our passion is to produce good looking food that tastes truly beautiful. We make no apologies that we are often described as being evangelical to this end. We commit to only using craftspeople who are trained to the highest ability to mix, ferment, shape and bake a hand crafted loaf of bread. At Brickyard we understand the science behind the chemical reactions of the ingredient
s and we know how to provide the best environment for our bread to develop. As is true with all artisan craftspeople we strive to combine materials to build something strong and at the same time delicate or elegant. At Brickyard we know that it is all too easy to declare yourself an Artisan Baker; but it takes true commitment to really earn the title. Often it is not the title you bestow upon yourself that matters, but how other people consider you. We want our customers to remember they are buying one of the oldest most basic foods there is. It wasn't necessary to add chemicals to bread for centuries and it still isn't. Brickyard is a small local bakery but unlike the big bakeries or supermarkets we are intensely proud of what we do and how we do it! We have nothing to hide and delight in sharing with people the fantastic alchemy of real bread making. We have a training room upstairs and run regular courses ranging from wild yeast, heath loaf bread making, for dedicated enthusiast or professional chefs to our popular after school baking club to engage children in the delight of making real food under the guidance of a fully trained lecturer in food preparation.
