SATS!
We are half way through our mammoth SATS breakfasts.
Almost a thousand breakfasts gone out already!
I couldn't have done it without the fantastic help from our wonderful volunteers. Thank you so much!
We have plenty of help now for preparing and packing, but we are a little short on drivers for tomorrow.
If anyone is free at 8am in the morning for twenty mins to deliver to two Guisbrough schools. Please let me know.

Volunteers for Free breakfasts
It's SATS time again for our local year year 6 kids
Once again we at Brickyard are committed to making sure each of our local kids have the opportunity to perform to the best of their ability. To help them reach their potential, we will be providing them all with a healthy, interesting, nutritious breakfast each morning of their tests. Completely free!
But once again we cant do this alone. We do need your help. If you could possibly volunteer to make, pack or deliver these breakfasts then please register on our website.

Welcome to Brickyard Academy Donations for the warm room page. We are using the heat from our ovens to provide a free for everyone, welcoming, warm space from 15th September onwards. The lounge space is directly above the bakery and you will be able to come and sit in comfort, read a book, keep warm...

Bakery Assistant needed
Due to the fantastic support from old and new customers we now need to increase our production team in Guisbrough. The new post will include production of scones, savouries, cakes and help with general duties including the upkeep of the bakery . This will be a full time role but will not be the anti social hours usually associated with the hospitality industry! Candidates will preferably have a catering background and able to produce items to a consistent quality . We are nearly there!
First; thank you to all the amazing people who responded to our call for staff. There was an incredible number of people with fantastic skills and experience who expressed an interest in joining this project. Sadly we only had limited places and with so many amazing candidates it was a heartbreaking task to arrive at our final team.
Second; We have only two spaces left on our first intake of interns;
If you, or someone you know thinks they might benefit from;

Exciting News!

We can finally announce our latest community project.
Hopefully, most of you will know that the driving force behind Brickyard Bakery is our work with people in our community who need a bit of a hand, especially youngsters.
We can now announce that we are opening a new bakery.
This bakery will be dedicated to giving youngster who have struggled at school, for what ever reason, an opportunity to work in a protected, nurturing supportive environment whilst gaining real, paid, work experience. A twelve month paid internship will hopefully act as a stepping stone to help them with the tricky transition into the world of work. They will also have the chance to achieve national vocational qualifications.

There was worldwide interest in Guisborough’s Brickyard Bakery after it invited people to bake their Christmas cakes in its ovens.

Apologies!
I should have said thank you for the tremendously generous and incredibly humbling support so many people showed the bakery and me personally whilst we were having a tough time here at Brickyard.

To be honest I've been lost for words that seem adequate. So perhaps we should just crack on and continue to be the best community bakery we can!

Ive been a bit tied up with bakery stuff, but I haven't forgotten that it's school holiday time, and I'm very aware that many people out there will be starting to struggle to find fun/free activities to keep the kids occupied. There will also be people struggling to keep the fridge stocked whilst the kids are at home.

TWO BURGLARIES AND A CATASTROPHIC OVEN BREAKDOWN!
I thought it was only fair to let our lovely loyal customers know what is happening here at Brickyard.
We've had a rough fortnight. The bakery was burgled twice in the last two weeks. (We did catch them the second time) and our trusty and incredibly hard working old oven finally gave up!
As you can imagine it's made things pretty tricky, and although determined not to close and let anyone down We simply haven't been able to keep the shop as well stocked as normal.
We have not increased our prices in seven years despite the crazy escalating costs of food and energy, this along with our continued efforts to help the community, has sadly meant we simply have no money left.
We are trying to raise the money for a new oven, in the mean time we will continue to do the best we can. Thank you all so much for your understanding and patience whilst we try to recover from the worst fortnight in our history.
