As the evenings get colder and darker, we find ourselves craving the seasonal home comfort food that we can cosy up in front of the fire with. This Caramel Apple Cake from King's Cake Emporium is what you've been looking for.

This simple, tasty, sticky bake will see you through until we glimpse that sunshine again. Caramel is notoriously thought of as being a baker’s nemesis, but with this cake there is no longer a need to be afraid!

INGREDIENTS:
• 75g light brown sugar
• 3 Granny Smith apples
• 1 tbsp lemon juice
• 125g softened butter/baking butter
• 220g sugar
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 3 eggs
• 150g self raising flour
• 35g plain flour
• 60ml milk

We can't get over how good these look 😍

Lauren from King's Cake Emporium is a self-taught home baker who spends her free time creating delicious, fantastically decorated treats for special occasions. One day she’ll open her own bakery, but for now, she’s sharing her baking tips, tricks and know-how with Places&Faces.

These banana & chocolate muffins are another of her delicious recipes. If you've got any bananas about to be chucked - make these instead!

Ingredients:
Makes approx 8-12 muffins
• 120g self raising flour
• 120g sugar
• 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
• 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
• Pinch of salt
• 100g chopped milk/dark chocolate
• 1 beaten egg
• 120g melted butter
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 2 very ripe bananas

Yesterday my super wonderful Dad turned 60! Last month and I arranged an early birthday surprise in London, and boy was he surprised 😱😭Yesterday we “surprised” Dad with a delicious meal with all his nearest and dearest! I 💜this picture of how excited he is by the cake I made! Strawberry and white choc with home made rocky road 🤤 ❤️

Last but by no means least because white choc is the best choc after all right?! 👍🏻👍🏻 Three layers of vanilla choc chip sponge slathered in white chocolate buttercream 🤤Resisting eating the white fingers was the toughest thing I’ve done all week 😂

Well what a busy ole week it’s been! It began with this lemon and raspberry beauty for my nanny’s 85th birthday! Super chuffed with my homemade meringues 💪as was nanny who cried when we surprised here with the cake...all good tears though!! Minus the raspberry fudge (which FYI is delish!), I’m proud to say everything else on this cake was homemade 😃🎂🎈
