I juggle life and work like most people these days, but believe in balance and working hard, as well as treating myself to the things I enjoy…mostly cake! I’ve had difficult times, like most of us do at some point in our lives, and was recommended to see a counsellor. I can honestly say that my counsellor changed my life! She made me feel it was OK to be a little broken and that I had choices ahea

d of me. Week after week I began to improve and still to this day I hear her with some of her sayings: “you’re allowed to be sad as it must have meant something”. These thoughts help me ground myself and renew my strength. I’ve been there and I know it works; through my own experiences as well as seeing the process happen for my clients. I’m not saying it’s easy and the more effort you put into counselling the more you get out. It’s also not just for the 6 weeks or how ever long you see a counsellor for – it’s for years after that, you continue to work on you and better understand yourself. I’m human and understand life is far from perfect…wouldn’t perfect be boring anyway? Us counsellors are like hairdressers – you need to find the one you like and who works for you.
