Mums 90th birthday flowers from Wye Valley Flowers (thank you, mum loves them). How beautiful are these? Full of colour, shape and texture.
It looks as though this bouquet was gathered during a slow stroll through an overgrown cottage garden at peak late summer, capturing the effortless beauty of nature just as it grows.
There is a wonderful, tactile dialogue happening here. The smooth, silky paperiness of delicate cosmos petals spilling dynamically past the rim, set against the dense, velvet-like cushions of dark purple sedum heads and fluffy yarrow clusters. Tucked alongside are tiny, starburst feverfew blossoms and the soft, leafy sprigs adding an earthy, aromatic green foundation. Pale yellow sunflowers with dark, textured central eyes catch the light immediately, acting as bright focal anchors. Rich pink and pale cream dahlias bring weight and intricate, layered symmetry to the centre. Delicately bent cosmos reach outward in expressive, asymmetrical arcs, breaking any rigid lines and making the whole arrangement feel light and alive.
The palette bridges warm sunshine and cool jewel tones. Soft lemon yellows and clean whites act as bright highlights, intermingling with deep magenta, dusty rose, and lavender-purple. Nothing feels matchy-matchy; instead, the colors bleed together with the organic harmony of a painter’s palette.
It’s an arrangement that breathes—a celebration of painterly imperfection, movement, and wild botanical grace.
(Lots of inspiration for a new artwork too 🙂)
