Hello everyone. Well, where has this year gone? It’s mind blowing that we are already in August!! They do say as you get older, the years go by faster! I must be bloomin’ ancient then because they’re flying by!
The shop is toddling on well. There is always a different dynamic to the day in the school holidays. It’s funny how you get used to the rhythms of the day. The steady times, the busy and frantic times and the lulls where you can catch up a bit and get things done. It all changes in the holidays. It is a little quieter. Not too much I’m very pleased to say but a different vibe for sure. Amy is baking up a storm and we have the girls home from university helping out too. Georgia has stepped up and has been baking alongside Amy. We shall miss her when she goes back. My Abigail has been dragged in too when needed. Pam has dropped her hours a little but if you want some banter (some may call it abuse but we’re sticking with banter) she’s available every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning and is always willing to oblige!! Judith has been wonderful with her husband helping out a little when Alun and I have been away.
How lucky am I to have such wonderful staff? Couldn’t ask for more. We have such a laugh too. I’d hate to work somewhere where you’re not happy. Must be awful. So glad this a happy place.
I’m not so happy about this weather though! Mid twenties is glorious. Any hotter, I’d rather not thank you. I am having air conditioning fitted but as you can imagine there is a stock issue at the moment. My lovely electrician is on the case and we just have to wait. I do think that this rise in temperature is what we are going to be living with in the future, so it’s better to sort it out now rather than later.
As usual, we have lots on offer. I was going to list them but I’ve rambled on a bit so I don’t want to bore you more than I have already. Have a look at the photos for an idea. Some are a bit dated but the majority is true. We have a couple of new bakes too that aren’t in the photos.
You’ll have to pop in to see them. We always love meeting new customers and like to think we’ve become a part of our little community here in Gelligaer. Everybody-and I mean everybody-has been wonderful. We have the BEST customers.
See you all soon and I will try and not leave it too long before doing another post. Amy has nagged me to do one so I’ve been a good girl and done it. Oh, by the way, she’s been playing around with TikTok (????) so check out what she’s done there. Much better photos. I’ll leave that one up to her I think!!
