Noticed lots of pink in Frodsham? Well this month is supporting a campaign to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. Lots of our gorgeous independents have come together for the cause. We’re doing our bit with pink window box flowers and bunting and have created a pink ‘booby’ iced bun of which 10% will go to charity.

A long-standing customer recently shared a special piece of our history with us — a newspaper clipping from the Runcorn Weekly News dating back to 1984. It’s a small snapshot, but a powerful reminder of just how far we’ve come.

Our family business is believed to have begun around 1900, and over the decades it has been more than just a bakery. There was once a ballroom above the shop where dances, weddings, and meetings brought the community together, and deliveries were made the old-fashioned way — by horse and cart.

Now, 126 years later, we’re still here, still family-run, and still proud of our roots.

Looking back at these memories fills us with gratitude and a sense of responsibility to carry that legacy forward. We hope Fred would be proud to see the business still going strong today.

Here’s to the past, the present, and everything still to come.

JOB VACANCY - Food Prep Assistant – Busy Bakery & Café (30 Hours per Week)
We’re looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Food Prep Assistant to join our busy bakery and café team.
This role is ideal for someone who has previous food preparation experience, strong food knowledge, and a genuine passion for fresh, quality ingredients.
Responsibilities:
• Preparing fresh ingredients for daily service
• Assisting with sandwich, salad, breakfast, and lunch prep
• Supporting bakers and kitchen staff with food preparation tasks
• Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness
• Ensuring food is prepared and stored correctly
• Helping with stock rotation and monitoring ingredient levels
• Keeping the kitchen organised and running efficiently during busy periods
What we’re looking for:
• Previous experience in food preparation or a similar kitchen role
• Good knowledge of food handling, preparation, and hygiene standards
• A genuine passion for food and quality produce
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced, busy environment
• Strong teamwork skills and a positive attitude
• Reliable, hardworking, and able to work independently when needed
• Flexibility to provide additional cover when required
Hours:
• Approximately 30 hours per week
• Flexibility is essential, as additional cover may be needed for holidays, sickness, and busy periods
