Good morning.

Surprisingly, we were busy yesterday, especially late afternoon. I really thought the heavy rain would put people off. Apparently not! πŸ˜‚

We didn't hear much thunder and lightning here, although I believe they had quite a bit of it in Skegness. It was very warm though, and there is something strangely comforting about sitting inside, relaxed, watching the heavy rain outside.

I know, I'm strange! 🀣

We had some amazing volunteers in yesterday who brought us a computer. One of those where everything is in the monitor and you have a separate keyboard. Got it all going and it works like a dream. We also received a printer. Nice one.

It says it's from 2016, but also says it hasn't been used for almost as long! πŸ˜‚

So I've started trying to set that up to link to the computer and the WiFi. I think I spent all of three hours attempting to do it. It's me. I googled how to do it, followed the instructions and still managed to make it complicated. πŸ€”

Hope wanted to leave, so I abandoned the battle and will go back to it this morning before anyone comes in.

I have a feeling the printer may win. πŸ˜…

All three boys and Sam did amazing work yesterday.

Zac made me the most perfect bacon and egg sandwich. The egg was cooked on the top but lovely and runny inside. I taught him well! Explained the difference between starting with cold oil and hot oil and the difference it makes to the outcome.

Careful Zac, I may need more! πŸ˜‚

Will made his wonderful pizzas too, and Zac was also hot on the burger and chips trail.

Will was seeing over Mark and his way around the rhubarb and prepping. Perfect job, of course. Sam did them too.

We had the cleaning-up talk and all was spot on. Today is a new day! πŸ˜ƒ

I sat outside last night listening to the church bells ringing.

There is something about the sound of church bells that I find quite magical.

The first one seems to drift across the evening air, soft at first, almost as though it's coming from somewhere much further away than it actually is. Then another follows, deeper and fuller, and suddenly the sound seems to fill everything around you.

It rolls across the rooftops and gardens, carrying on through the stillness. You hear the metal strike, then that beautiful lingering note afterwards, slowly fading into the distance before the next one arrives.

And when the evening is quiet, you can hear how far they travel. They don't just sound like they are coming from the church. They seem to belong to the whole village for those few moments.

There is something very old about it.

Almost as though the sound has travelled through hundreds of years and is still doing exactly what it was meant to do. Calling people, marking time, announcing something, or simply reminding everyone that the church is there.

It's a fabulous sound. I'm sure I've said that before.

Apart from their religious uses, it's fascinating to think church bells were used for so many things. Calling people into the centre of the village, obviously marking the hours, the Angelus bell when it rang three times a day to announce the beginning, middle and end of the working day, the curfew bell which signalled people to put out their fires and candles to try and prevent fires, and my favourite, the Gleaning bell.

That one signalled at harvest time when people were allowed to go into the fields and pick up the leftover grain.

I guess many people adhered to it all. A far cry from these days! πŸ˜‚

But still, it's lovely to have a church that can still ring its bells. Thank you to those who do it.

It reminds me it's Thursday. As I often forget what day of the week it is! 🀣

I know it's practice. I have a friend who goes around the country and further who has done it for years. It's just lovely. He is also a campanologist. Well, I think a bit of bad health has got in the way recently.

After today, we close until 7th September.

We've got lots to do. Ripping things apart, changing things around, painting to refresh everything and pulling everything out in the kitchen to give it a proper steam clean everywhere.

We're also getting the area near the cold room ready so we can make full and efficient use of it.

So there is plenty to keep us busy!,

A Wren sat outside yesterday evening, chattering away. Its tiny calls came in quick, bright bursts, tumbling one after another through the quiet air, as though it had a great deal to tell me. It paused now and then, cocking its head and watching me before starting up again, filling the garden with its lively little song.

It seems to follow me because whenever I sit around home and the tearoom, it's there.

It could be the same one, but it seems to have a little conversation with me and then goes off again.

Perhaps it's just checking I'm doing everything properly. πŸ€”πŸ˜‚

Anyway, one last day before the tearoom shuts for a little while. Let's see what today brings.

See you later. 😊

Good morning.
Another lovely day yesterday, although I did escape for half of it to go and strangle my printer, laptop and phone. They can all see each other, they are all connected to each other, yet apparently they have decided they don't actually want to be friends. πŸ™„

Technology is wonderful when it works. When it doesn't, apparently I become the IT department. πŸ˜’

I did do some cooking in the morning, but the rest was done by Angus and the head honchos of the assistant team. They did really well and it's lovely seeing them becoming more confident and taking responsibility.

We may need to have a few training days with them, as we would like them to learn a bit more, especially about the mysterious art of putting things away! πŸ€” Apparently things don't always naturally return to the place they came from. Who knew? πŸ˜‚ There may be a few other things they need reminding about too, but we will get there.

It looks like we might have thunderstorms today. So far, so good, but the sky is beginning to look rather threatening over towards the south east. The sun was out when I got up, so it's anyone's guess what it's going to do next.
It's still very warm though.

We are also fortunate enough to have some brand new light fittings to sell, with all proceeds going into the tearoom. I've got more to come, but I'm going to start with these and give you first refusal before I put them on Vinted at some point.

We've got: Standard lamp Β£25 Double wall/picture light Β£20 ono Peach coloured, or possibly light pink, ceiling fitting Β£15 Single chrome table lamp Β£15
There are about another 10 different ones, but I've only opened these ones for now. When you're popping in, come and have a look. They are all brand new.
The pictures aren't the greatest. I took them this morning and, judging by the quality, my eyes clearly weren't fully open yet! πŸ˜‚

If we do get a thunderstorm, I actually quite like them. Although we do know that one of our trees was hit by lightning. A tree man confirmed it and the sycamore has been slowly dying since.
The interesting thing is that the branches at the bottom of the trunk are starting to sprout, so the tree is actually trying to save itself. Around it, it looks like autumn already.
I love trees. I really do. So I feel very sad when one dies. 😞
It's clinging on though, so we may have to take down the dead section, which is probably about 50 years old, and allow the rest to regrow. It's not in the best position, being between the house and the field, although the cars can still get past.
It's tempting just to remove the whole thing, and the professionals have suggested taking it down. πŸ˜’ But when it's clearly trying to survive, I can't quite ignore that.
We'll see.

Please remember, we close from Friday at 3pm and don't reopen until 7th September.
It is Bank Holiday, but I have meetings and appointments, so there may be a teeny bit of R&R squeezed in somewhere. Most importantly though, we are going to give everything a really good deep clean, everywhere, and probably move some equipment moved around ready for winter.
There will also be painting, titivating and redesigning ready for our freezer unit.
So it won't exactly be a holiday. More of a "holiday" where I get to move furniture and clean things. πŸ˜‚
Right, time for a coffee. β˜•οΈ
See you later.

26/08/2026

Good morning.
It says it’s going to rain today. 🌧️ Temperatures up to 22c though, so that’s alright. A nice warm shower from the sky. πŸ˜‚ So it’s a win, win today!
We were pretty much level pe***ng on the cakes yesterday. I’d say the lemon meringue just pipped the vanilla and chocolate cake to the post. The blueberry muffins got a bit of a look in too, so it’s still all to play for! 🀣
The assistants did very well running the tearoom yesterday. Zac and Kayleigh did a lot of the cooking, which was lovely to see. They are getting more confident and taking on more themselves.
They’ve also got some plans for our future, which is lovely to hear. They have some really good ideas, so more on that as we finalise a few things. 😊
I spent quite a bit of yesterday wandering around all the flowers, shrubs, herbs and vegetables.
Isn’t nature wonderful? 🌿🌸
With Angel Anne’s fingers at the helm, it really is magic. Every time I walk around the different areas of the tearoom, the plants take my breath away. I just want to sit down for a while and look at everything.
The rhubarb Anne picked was absolutely colossal! 😳 So we have lots of autumn and winter puddings coming up. I think that rhubarb might feed us until Christmas! πŸ˜‚
Now, the bloody printer is playing up again.
Henk thinks I should throw it away and start again. 🀣
These new printers that use heat printing don’t seem to make the print last, so I’m looking at a new solution.
It could be that I’m looking for an old electric typewriter at this stage. It would probably be more efficient than the bloody thing.
Oh technology. When it works, it works. When it doesn’t, you want to throw it through the window. πŸ˜‚
And I’ve got another mystery.
Every time I sit in my car, a different router name comes up. It’s not around the house and it appears in the car wherever I go.
I’ve never been able to connect the car to my phone as there is, I think, a receiver missing. I removed the SIM card from the car because it wouldn’t connect.
But this mysterious router is still there.
It’s not just my phone either. Everyone who sits in the car sees it.
None of us can connect to it because, obviously, we need a password.
So what the damn hell is my car broadcasting? πŸ€”πŸ˜‚
I feel like I’m one step away from discovering I’ve accidentally set up a secret mobile network and my car has been keeping it from me.
Ideas please!
Our other Directors are also doing their best to stop me from running too fast.
I suppose I have so much to do in my personal life and at home, that I’m currently running at two speeds.
Fast.
And whirlwind. 🀣
Mark is a bit agitated at the moment, which unfortunately makes his illness spiral.
I try to protect him from having to handle things myself, but on a good day he asks and wants to know what’s going on.
I can’t not tell him. I can’t keep him out of everything.
On a good day, he’s a version of Mark. The kind, gentle man who always put his family first and would do anything for everyone.
On bad days, I’m not always sure who he is.
I hate dementia with a passion.
I’m at a loss as to why my husband has had to get early-onset dementia when he was just such a kind, gentle man who would put everyone else first.
I’m sure there are others reading this who know exactly what I mean.
Sometimes I wonder how I hold it all together.
But we all do, don’t we?
We just keep going.
I’ve met so many genuine people since opening the tearoom. Some are questionable though. πŸ€”πŸ˜‚
If you know, you know. 🀣
Right, time for coffee and another go at this printer.
I’ll try the old trick.
Turn it off.
Turn it back on.
Pretend I haven’t already done that three times.
See you later. β˜•οΈπŸ˜‚

25/08/2026

Good morning.
Bit of a rush today. I slightly overslept, which is not happening again! 😴 Two Victoria sponges to get out today, but luckily they are flash frozen, so I can get them boxed up shortly. One less thing for my brain to remember!
The cakes are having a competition today. 🍰
Lemon meringue, chocolate mint mousse cake, Tornado (our vanilla and chocolate whizzed together cake), pear and chocolate torte, apple shortcake and blueberry muffins.
Who will win? πŸ€”
You decide! Come and try your favourite and give it the push it needs to become the winning cake this week. It's a very serious competition, obviously. There may even be cake involved. πŸ˜‚
New customers again today. Leicester and Tonbridge, and I'm not sure where the third one is from. Either I forgot to ask or my brain is a little fuzzled this morning. Probably best not to investigate too deeply! 🀣
All new customers, with some on holiday, but of course our regulars are here too. It's lovely seeing new faces alongside the ones we know so well.
Looks like the sun should be peaking its head out all day, and it's going hotter, up to around 25c by 2pm. I'm just putting the parasol up for those who like a bit of shade.
We didn't have any decent bases for the parasols, so we found one at our car boot. Just the job! Now I'm looking for another metal base to take the other parasol.
Car boots, here I come! πŸ˜‚
I'm off to the Wainfleet St Mary's show on Sunday as I have an important job to do there, but I'll probably rush to the auto jumble at Stickney first.
Although, to be fair, I don't find many auto jumble pieces there most of the time. Having an old Fiat Ducato, I do like looking out for bits and pieces for her. She's 26 years old now, so finding something useful is a bit like finding treasure.
I also need a sunroof catch. You know those old ones where you push the glass up and lock it with a little catch? Well, I broke mine. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ
So it's either a whole new sunroof or just a catch.
Do you think 3D printing would make a catch strong enough? That's another option!
Luckily, with the help of a bungee, it hasn't leaked. Nothing says professional vehicle maintenance quite like a strategically placed bungee! πŸ˜‚
I'd love to get the bodywork done too. Two rear wheel arches need doing, the back door needs repairing and possibly the front wheel arches, although those are very small.
But then the diesel heater has stopped working. It starts, but doesn't continue, so I'm expecting there's a blockage somewhere. And although the water pump is new, that's stopped working too. It doesnt flush the loo either, the most important job, apparently it's decided that's its only job now is to enjoy the ride and relax. 🀣
It does make going away less relaxing than it used to be, which rather defeats the whole point of having it.
It runs lovely otherwise. She's been welded properly, has a new exhaust thanks to Nick, new battery, solar panel and all the things she needed doing. She's got a good MOT and really is perfect inside for Hope and me.
One day, I'll get her resprayed too. She's 26 years old, but she's just right for us. I really need to get more use out of her, but I need the water and diesel heater sorting first.

Now, just a little extra note because I've been messaged again and asked personally.
We are not part of the Askefield Project next door.
Yes, it has the same postcode. Yes, the field surrounds us. But we are in no way connected.
We don't have the same ethos and we are totally, absolutely separate. We are a C.I.C. and they are a limited company. I also live here. There isn't a house next door!
Apparently someone was Googling us and Google has mixed the two together. I suppose the postcode and general address haven't helped.
But no, we are not connected. I live here with my family and have done for almost 20 years. I know this seems to pop up every now and again! πŸ˜‚
The tearoom opened because of my daughter, who has learning disabilities and physical difficulties, although you wouldn't notice. πŸ˜€
Its primary purpose is to help with self-esteem, self-worth, confidence, independence, social skills and mental health.
The community element was actually accidental, but we absolutely love it.
Anyway, as usual, I'm late.
Coffee time. β˜•οΈ
See you later.

24/08/2026

Good morning.
Lovely steady Saturday yesterday. Calm, great food and relaxing. Just what we like. Kayleigh and Harry were both cooking in the kitchen as well as serving, and it was really nice to see them taking the responsibility and being confident enough to have a go.
I did jump in and cook the fajitas with Kayleigh by my side,, prompting her with the ingredients I needed, but she did really well. Well done, both of you. 😊
I've had some more cannon loading, which is great fun to collect. If you know, you know. πŸ˜‚ I'm still uptight about it all. That feeling of being intimidated is not nice, but I'm OK.
After a good day out yesterday, walking the dogs, from the dog park to car boots and then an awful lunch at a pub on a roundabout in Boston. Seriously, they need a new chef and someone who knows how to clear tables promptly.
We should have read the clues. Two almost full dinners, complete with drinks, left on a table outside. Not sure how long they'd been there, but they were absolutely full of flies and wasps. Eventually they were removed, but no one cleaned the tables outside.
We were hungry, so we persevered. We have now learned our lesson. That won't be going on our list of places to eat. Such a shame because it used to be lovely.
I certainly have never had Moroccan chicken like that before! It was hard. Almost rock-like, with a rub on it and no sauce. Luckily, I had plain rice and roast vegetables, so I mixed it all together and added some curry sauce, which I had to go back inside for because it hadn't arrived.
It was eventually palatable. πŸ˜‚
I suppose it did me a favour though, as I really needed something light and non-greasy because I was feeling a bit queasy. That's what stress does to you!
So all in all, a fun day. We always have fun. Silly conversations, exploring new things, tasting new things and just relaxing. That's what I love about our best buddy friendship. It takes the pain and that emotionally drained feeling away, even if just for a day.
I needed it.
Although I'm not sleeping well, yesterday gave me a break and this morning my head is on straight and calm. Like someone has finally pressed the reset button in my brain, although I'm still waiting for the rest of me to reboot. πŸ˜‚
Thank you. ❀️
We close Friday at 3.00pm this week and open again on 7th September.
It's only a week, but I need to change a few things around in the kitchen, refresh a few things and, of course, get ready for the freezer unit to go in.
The freezer room is already done and the electrics are now sorted, so it's the final push.
Can't really have a special opening for it, of course. Although the heatwave would have been ideal. We could all have stood in there with our celebration glasses at the helm and cooled off. 😁
Although knowing my luck, someone would ask for a table for six in the freezer room. πŸ˜‚
Right, coffee time.
I've got a couple of things to do today, so Harry will be in charge. Things to write for our new website, and then I will be done for the day.
Oh, and putting a new battery into my laptop. Because apparently laptops don't appreciate being held together by optimism and an old battery. πŸ˜‚
Time to get moving.
Coffee time. Again! β˜•οΈ

22/08/2026

Good morning.
Thank you for yesterday. Some lovely new customers and some great chats. Again, the fajitas, hands down! πŸ˜‚ I must admit, I do like making them. We did both chicken and steak yesterday and both were just as popular as each other.
I've been working on the new autumn/winter menu and the fajitas are definitely here to stay. Exciting meats too, including venison. I know we've always done venison, but then we've got our Dexter beef, which is so beautiful and tasty and extremely well looked after. Same with the lamb and of course our pork.
We are looking for a local chicken supplier, but it must be free range. If you know of one, let me know.
Mark from the tearoom and Sam set off on a mission yesterday to peel apples. That lasted about five minutes because I kept stopping them to make food in the kitchen for customers. πŸ˜‚ Apparently, actually peeling the apples wasn't quite as important as feeding people. Who knew?
I could really do with more space in that kitchen now. We do so many different foods and have so much equipment, I could probably double the size and still find something else to put in it. At this rate, I'll be cooking in the garden room next. πŸ˜‚
Now the freezer room is with us, we've got nowhere else to go with it. So we muddle along and see if we can squeeze a bit more space out of what we've already got. Because obviously, buying more equipment is much easier than getting rid of anything. 🀣
Did you know, before I started this adventure, I was actually going to open two teaching kitchens?
The idea was to teach young people the basics of cooking and, importantly, costings, especially when you're working to a strict budget. It would have included adults like us too, as well as people going off to university or moving out on their own.
(Watch someone open that now! πŸ˜‚)
But I changed my mind at the last minute and went back to what we had originally thought of doing 26 years ago.
That's why we bought the house. As well as opening a small touring site, which we successfully ran for 16 years.
Another tragedy affected by what we are going through now. If you know, you know!
Harry won't be with us next Saturday, so our bank holiday time off will start on Friday evening. It wouldn't be fair on Kayleigh to run it without him, certainly not on a Saturday. It's our busiest day of the week, although Monday is catching up as people realise we're one of the few places that actually opens on a Monday! πŸ˜‚
I've mentioned Whatnot before. It is fun, but be careful because you can very easily get carried away. I've bought quite a lot for our future projects on there, but I'm now running out of storage space!
I've learnt the chant now.
Do I WANT it?
Or do I NEED it?
NEED wins.
WANT gets shelved. πŸ˜‚
Although, somehow, I've still managed to overload the storage space. I'm clearly very good at this game!
Always check prices elsewhere first before buying. Something looking like a bargain doesn't always mean it is one. Although convincing yourself it is a bargain is apparently very easy. 🀣
There seems to be an awful lot of Next and Boss towels everywhere at the moment. Even I've noticed them at Hildreds. Not sure whether they are genuine or not. Anyone know?
We are also on the lookout for metal shelving for our freezer room. We already have some, but we will "need more". πŸ˜‚
It has to be all metal, preferably stainless steel. No wood, and preferably something breathable, with space between each rack. It's for the freezer room, so it needs to be washable and not rust.
If you see anything suitable, let me know.
The garden room will also need an overhaul before that opens in autumn. That will make up for the outside seating which obviously won't get used quite as much when the weather gets colder and wetter.
Unless we come up with a removable conservatory roof.
Now THAT would be the ultimate! πŸ˜‚
It would have to be removable though, otherwise people would cook outside in the hot weather!
Gosh, I've just thought of project number 4.
I really must stop doing that! 🀣
Wouldn't that be nice though?
Oh, for a lottery win....
I suppose I should play it sometime. πŸ˜‚
Although knowing my luck, I'd probably win a free ticket.
Time to get to work after a coffee. β˜•οΈ
See you later.

Good morning.
Thank you for yesterday. A lovely calm and friendly day, which is always nice. 😊
I woke up at 4am this morning. Went back to sleep, which I don't normally do, and promptly had a horrible dream.
Hope had been let off the lead by someone in Manchester. Except it wasn't Manchester. It was somewhere I didn't recognise at all. I got on a bus, but of course the bus wouldn't stop where I needed it to, so I ended up having to walk 15 miles back.
Then I came across a centre full of people slouched around desks, doing their nails and chewing gum! πŸ€” It was all a bit wild. Nobody would listen to me and when I asked for a taxi, they didn't have any. What they did have was numbers for drug barons and other people who looked decidedly dodgy.
Very useful. Exactly what you need when you're desperately trying to find your dog. πŸ™„πŸ˜‚
It was one of those dreams where you're desperately trying to get someone to listen and nobody is interested. Everyone seemed to be focused on making money rather than having a bit of compassion.
Meanwhile, I was worrying about where Hope was in this enormous city, now 15 miles away. I was terrified she had been taken in by bad people and worried about how confused she would be feeling.
So I started walking.
Without shoes.
I've no idea where my shoes had gone, but apparently dream logic had decided they weren't required. Obviously. Why make finding your dog difficult enough when you can do it barefoot? 😳
I could feel the desperation, but I was determined to find her.
Luckily, at that point, I woke up.
I put my arm out and there was Hope, sleeping soundly beside me.
Such a relief! ❀️
Of course, that resulted in lots of cuddles and kisses for Hope this morning. She had absolutely no idea she'd been causing me all that stress in my sleep. πŸ˜‚
I went off for an MRI last night and, as you know, you have to keep very still in those things.
To be fair, it was such an improvement. The room it was in was much more spacious and the machine didn't seem anywhere near as big.
Of course, they play things through headphones while you're in there.
Jason Manford was on.
So there I was, lying in an MRI trying desperately not to move, while listening to Jason Manford and having to stifle my giggles and laughter.
I almost burst! 🀣
I'm not sure who decided that comedy was the ideal soundtrack for someone who has been specifically told NOT TO MOVE, but there we are. πŸ˜‚
A lovely sunny morning today, although I believe the rain is due to arrive around 1pm. Still remaining warm though, so perhaps the weather is just keeping us guessing.
Just a reminder that we will be closed from the 30th August Bank Holiday weekend until 7th September.
It's normally a weekend off anyway, but I have some important things to do, as well as a few jobs at the tearoom ready for the freezer fitting. We are a little delayed with that, but we're almost finished.
I'm actually feeling quite tired today. I guess going back to sleep at 4am wasn't my best decision. I usually don't, but this morning I thought I'd grab the extra couple of hours.
Not good. 😴
I could curl up now!
I think I'll have a coffee. A fully caffeinated one rather than my usual decaf. It may actually wake me up.
I've also put on a cardigan because it was a bit chilly first thing.
Now I'm too cosy.
I'm going to have to fight to take it off! πŸ˜‚
I called into The Miller's Daughter in my quest to find a decent steak pie, after having some absolutely awful ones that claim to be homemade but certainly aren't.
Disgusting, I'd say.
Obviously mass-produced ones, hardly any meat and the gravy is always awful. You know the sort. The sort where you need a magnifying glass to find the steak. πŸ™„
At last, I found a decent pie. Fabulous chips too, and they also do meals for dogs. 🐢
That's something we will look at for the winter.
Finally, a real homemade steak pie.
Well done to The Mermaid's Daughter. πŸ‘
Right, back to get that coffee and hopefully wake myself up!
If anyone sees me wandering around looking half asleep, I'm not ignoring you. I'm probably still somewhere between the MRI and my dream city. πŸ˜‚
See you later. β˜•οΈπŸ˜Š

20/08/2026

Good morning.

Thank you for yesterday, and thank you for the support from those that know. I will let you all know when things are over. I already have media interest without even asking, but I'm holding back for now until all the legal bits are done.

I never wanted it this way, but when you're forced into a corner, I'm not one to stay there. Apparently, I don't come with a built-in "keep quiet and accept it" button. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚
My family are important and, with Mark's illness, I have to step out alone. He's with me on this, but he's not quite sure, as he used to be, how to tackle it. So, for now, it's me putting my big girl pants on and getting on with it!
The wheels are in motion and I'm pleased I've taken that first step.

Long may the little poor man stand his ground! 😁
Back at the tearoom, all is well.

Hope and I shuffled, ducked and dived the rain this morning. She didn't go exploring as normal. She's not keen on the rain! I think she was looking at me as if to say, "You go. I'll stay here where it's dry, thanks." πŸ˜‚

It is cooler, no doubt, but I still only have my summer comforter on my bed. I guess the duvet will be going back on soon.
I'm not quite ready to admit summer has packed its bags yet. It can at least put its coat on before it leaves! πŸ˜†

It's nice to see the rain bringing the green back, picking up the wilting plants and bringing some life back into the countryside. The wasps will perhaps go away and leave drinking from the pond for now.

I'm not a lover of wasps, but they were desperate for a drink, so I let them be. Despite feeling absolutely terrified when they were around! Apparently I'm very brave...as long as the wasp stays several miles away. πŸ˜‚
I have to leave dead on the dot today. We have to close at 3pm as I have an appointment and I can't be late.

I know I often stay with customers already here and stay open as long as they want, but today I really do have to go. Sorry.

I try to keep appointments after work, but this one is a little further away, so I need to be prompt. Yes, I know, shock horror...I actually have to leave on time! πŸ˜³πŸ˜‚

Zac is doing well in the kitchen. He's making sure the burgers are cooked properly and getting things ready for cooking.
Will is hot on the pizzas, so I may be able to come away from the kitchen for a while.
Well, on some days anyway. Let's not get carried away! πŸ˜†

Sam escaped with Tina yesterday on their jollies, with Louis too! I'm sure Sam drops hints about escaping whenever she gets the chance. She probably has a secret suitcase packed somewhere. πŸ˜‚

It's certainly cooler in the kitchen at the moment. Two fans running makes a difference, as does the cooler weather. My electricity meter probably has a different opinion, but there we go. πŸ˜†

I'm working on the autumn and winter menu at the moment, when we will have the best beef, pork, lamb and venison.

All locally sourced and free range, and extremely well looked after.

None of this water being pumped into the meat. Just beautifully looked after, carefully processed, no halal, and a beautiful flavour.
How it should be.

I just have to do it all justice and make sure the end product is perfect. No pressure then! πŸ˜‚
I've had an idea too. I need to run it past the other Directors first πŸ˜… It's to do with the tearoom and a service we could offer!

I can't say any more yet, otherwise I'll probably get told off for announcing things before we've discussed them. πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‚

Time for a coffee. Not cake this morning. I just needed it yesterday!

My hat is back on and I'm back into head mode rather than heart mode.

Onwards.

Let's make sure the adults here continue to thrive, continue to progress and continue on their journeys.

We will never change our ethos. We will never want profit above all we believe in. We remain open, honest and will always welcome anyone into the tearoom.

Five years on, apart from the odd small grant from the local council and parish, and our biggest from EMR, we remain true to ourselves, sustainable and working for one purpose.
Everyone is treated as an equal and everyone is welcome.

That's what matters.

Right, enough serious stuff. Time for coffee before I start solving the problems of the world before 9am. β˜•οΈπŸ˜‚
See you soon.
