Hello all,

Following storm Goretti and our recent internet outage in the village in the past 24hrs, I am concerned about how affected our tiny community is when we lose our ability to make calls, check emails, take payments and work from our homes and businesses without significant disruption.
From vital lifeline connections to zero ability to make calls to emergency services, due to no phone connections either through landlines or through mobiles, it is apparent that we are not being supported appropriately by internet and telephone providers. I would like to raise this issue with our local MP Perran Moon.
Please can you comment below with your concerns or stories about how the lack of service is affecting you or your loved ones, so that I can present these to those who may be able to start pushing for change.

We hosted a mini celebration for the kids, in year 6, from the local primary school today. They had just finished their SATs and joined us for cakes and milk shakes and were an absolute delight. I’m sure they have smashed it and will be amazing in all they do in the future!

On Tuesday May 11th, Devon and Cornwall Police will be holding a drop in session at Sampy’s Cafe from 11am. If you have any concerns or thoughts you can stop by to chat to an officer whilst having a coffee.

Well done Simon, you are such a kind gent x 👏🏻

For many years Mawnan WI has had its own notice board in the centre of the village. However, recently Storm Goretti caused a considerable amount of damage and one of its victims was our board which was ripped from its position.
A very thoughtful and kind village resident came to the rescue and has done what can only be described as a transformational job. Much of the original has had to be replaced and it has all been cleaned up and freshly painted….as good as new! It’s now back in its rightful place with the latest information about our programme and upcoming events.
We are so very grateful to Simon for rescuing the noticeboard in the first place and also for his brilliant restoration work; we are very pleased that he agreed to join some of the committee for coffee in Sampy’s so that we could say a proper thank you to him.
