Slice of Memories About Me
Hi, I’m Karen, the baker behind Slice of Memories. During that time, I began baking cakes for family birthdays. Living with M.E.

My journey into baking started unexpectedly—I had to undergo an operation on my knee, which kept me from working for a while. To my surprise, I discovered how much joy it brought me, not just to bake but to see the smiles my creations could bring to others. One of my proudest baking moments was creating a moving, radio-controlled lorry cake for my son’s 21st birthday. Taking apart a lorry and trai

ler, rebuilding it in cake and icing, and seeing it still work was an unforgettable experience. But the best part was the smile and surprise on his face—it made all those hours of work worth it. Why I Love Baking
Baking gives me purpose and allows me to channel my creativity in ways I never thought possible. and a tumor in my knee means I can’t stand for long periods, but baking offers me a challenge I love to take on. From starting with simple naked cakes to creating elaborate designs, every bake pushes me to learn something new. While I can be my own worst critic, I truly enjoy getting caught up in the details that make each cake special. What makes me happiest is knowing that my creations bring people together and make their celebrations more memorable. Hearing from customers about how my cakes added that extra magic to their special day always puts a smile on my face. What Makes Slice of Memories Unique
At Slice of Memories, I listen carefully to what my customers want and take the time to make each bake personal. Whether it’s a custom design, a unique flavor, or a small detail that holds special meaning, I strive to create something that truly reflects the person or occasion it’s made for. And it’s not just people I bake for—my two cockapoos, my fur babies, are often spoiled with pup cakes for their special days, as are their four-legged friends! A Few Fun Facts About Me
When I’m not baking, you’ll often find me at the speedway. I’m passionate about the sport and have the exciting role of timekeeping in the referee’s box on race nights. Although I miss the days of cheering on my beloved Exeter Falcons, I now proudly support the Plymouth Gladiators. Thank you for visiting Slice of Memories! I’d love to hear from you and help create something that makes your next celebration truly unforgettable. Let’s make memories together, one slice at a time!

Last night was truly special – celebrating my godparents’ diamond anniversary, 60 wonderful years of love and memories 🥰

It meant so much to be part of such a beautiful evening surrounded by so many familiar Topsham faces.

I was also honoured to create my biggest cake to date – a three-tier design with 12” lemon drizzle, 10” chocolate, and 6” vanilla, decorated with edible flowers, a edible picture frame and photo from their wedding day xx

These were made to be enjoyed with friends, alongside a special celebration cake being made by a family member. I also created a custom K-Pop topper for them to add to their cake — a little extra touch to complete the occasion 🪩⭐️🩵🩷💜

I had the absolute honour of making this two-tier cake for a truly special couple celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary. As if that wasn’t special enough, they also renewed their vows and promised their love to one another all over again.

The beautiful couple just happen to be my wonderful mother-in-law and father-in-law, which made the day even more meaningful.

It was such a lovely, emotional day and I feel so lucky to have been a small part of such a special moment.

💙 As many of you know, we welcomed my precious grandson into the world last week!

I’ve purposely taken a little time off from cake making this month to soak up every moment of this special time.

Alongside baking, I’ve always had a passion for arts and crafts—so I decided to make a keepsake memory box and a little elephant with his birth details printed onto the ears.

Really enjoyed creating something so personal and meaningful 💫
