What do you prefer – tall round cakes or simple square cakes? 🍰

Tall round cakes are definitely more popular, but I’ve actually started making simple square cakes…they are so easy to serve
Each one is made with two layers of fluffy vanilla sponge, filled with delicious white chocolate mascarpone cream and a generous layer of blueberry filling. Simple, but absolutely delicious. 🫐
The only problem? My teenagers have decided the blueberry filling counts as one of their 5-a-day. 🤣

It’s been a while since I made a proper birthday cake, and I’m so happy to say I haven’t forgotten how. 😊 Sometimes it’s nice to be reminded that taking a break doesn’t mean you’ve lost your touch.

I actually enjoyed every minute of making this one. No pressure, no stress—just the joy of creating. Everything came together exactly as I’d imagined: a soft and fluffy chocolate sponge, silky chocolate mascarpone filling, smooth chocolate buttercream, a perfect chocolate drip, and a generous pile of chocolates on top.

Happy 40th! 🎉 And what better way to celebrate than with a cake made for a true chocolate lover? 🍫

When your teenagers wake up at 11, cake counts as breakfast… right? 😄
So that’s exactly what happened this Sunday. They had chocolate cherry cake for breakfast, and we enjoyed ours with a leisurely cup of tea.
Everyone was happy. That’s what homemade baking is all about. 🤎🍒☕

Why do I cut my cheesecakes?

Brought a homemade cheesecake to work once… and watched people turn it into a communal dip. Forks straight in. No slices. Just chaos.
Now I cut it before serving. Lesson learned 🤣
