This cake is a bit of me! I love making this style of cake, an entirely edible and handmade wedding cake for lovely Carol and Peter. I hope they had a wonderful day and I wish them a lifetime of happiness.

This lady is sad, she’s sad because she enquired about a cake, confirmed everything with me…but she didn’t pay the deposit so I didn’t put her order in my diary. She paid the deposit 2 weeks later but by then her date had gone to someone that paid their deposit straight away, so her deposit was returned!

This hasn’t actually happened for a while but I have received a lot of late deposits and the customers were lucky and I could still accommodate their order.

So just to remind you:

1. Check the date you want to collect your cake is available - that’s the only date I need, if you want to collect your cake the day before your celebration, factor that in. It would be rare that I could change the date at the last minute.

2. Give me an idea of what design you’d like, it can be quite vague if the cake is being booked well in advance. Also give me an idea of how many you’d like the cake to feed.

3. I’ll give you a quote based on these details. If you’re not happy with the price please tell me, there may be things I can do to simplify something and reduce the price - no promises but I’m happy to try.

4. If you are happy with the price, I’ll give you the deposit and other payment details. Please pay your deposit asap, if I receive another enquiry for your date within 48 hours I will check with you before giving your date away, any longer than that I’m going to presume you don’t want the cake and I’ll move on, no hard feelings! (Although I do prefer you just to tell me you don’t want it, you don’t need to give me a reason if you don’t want to, but I’d rather know. )

5. Once your deposit is paid, you’re in the diary and all you need to do is confirm all of your design details, flavour etc. 2 weeks before (don’t worry I’ll prompt you)

6. For celebration cakes the final balance is due 1 week before collection - don’t make me chase you please, again I will prompt you.

If you’ve made it to the end of this, well done! I don’t mean to be so strict, but I also don’t like having to tell you that you can’t have your child / granny / partner’s birthday cake because you didn’t pay your deposit.

So I’ve made all of Noah’s birthday cakes, which is just a lovely thing. His first birthday cake was a beautiful Noah’s Ark cake…apparently he’s still into animals, just slightly scarier ones! 😂
