Just a quick update to opening hours this week due to staff holidays and illness

Today (Tuesday) - 9:00 - 2:30
Tomorrow (Wednesday) - 10:30 - 3:00
Thursday / Friday - 8:30 - 3:30
Saturday 8:00 - 1:30

From today, you will now be able to get your hands on large soft white rolls from Vintage!

We know our traditional crusty white cobs sell like proverbial hotcakes, but sometimes there’s nothing like a bacon sarnie on a pillowy white bap to start your day!

Why not pop down and grab a couple, and treat yourself to a coffee and croissant break from the morning madness!

Is it the last weekend of summer ..? We hope not, although a bit cooler would be good as 40°C plus in the bakery isn’t nice..!

I started writing this at 7:30AM and the day has got away from me ! Thank you to everyone who came in today - we had a fabulous day and the farmers market looked really busy too !

So as we move through the summer holidays, we are losing a couple of our familiar faces behind the counter so…

We're looking for a 🌟Saturday Superstar🌟 to join the team at Vintage Bakery in Retford!

If you're 16 or over and looking for a weekend job, we need someone friendly and energetic to help out on our busiest day. It’s an early start but good fun, and you’ll be busy !

The role involves serving customers, keeping our counter displays looking great, and clearing tables (and of course the close down cleaning !)

You'll be working alongside an award-winning team (well, Will has the silver award to prove it!). If you’ve got food handling or barista experience then even better !

Pay is subject to age and experience, and we are looking for cover every weekend and some of the holidays too.

Morning all!

Heatwave number 86 of the year is here and it’s already reaching for 40 degrees in the bakery, so we’ve taken the decision to close our doors today to keep everyone safe and well as the mercury climbs into the afternoon.

We’ll be back in action tomorrow as it’s forecast to be a bit more sensible, and raring to go for a big market Saturday!

We don’t do politics at Vintage Bakery - it’s a deeply personal thing that shouldn’t bleed into our ability to be a welcoming space for anyone and everyone.

With that in mind, the Mobile Food Consent license from Bassetlaw council is a gross mis-step, costing both travelling traders and hosting venues huge sums of money, and unfairly penalising small businesses across Bassetlaw. We supply a multitude of small “mobile” businesses, meaning a loss of business for them is a loss of business for us, a part of the “high street” and a “local business” they claim to support.

Small business needs you, the people, now more than ever. There will be traders who have left careers and invested life savings into their endeavours, and this punitive tax unfairly affects them. Support local businesses, support local mobile traders (and yes, support Ticking Clock Brew Co because they do make the finest beer around here 😉)

Happy Saturday !!!

Its going to be another warm one too !! And you can find us in two places today !!!

Will & the team are in the shop - and we’ve got a brand new drink today… yep, we are doing Iced Latte’s !!! And today if you order a double shot, its a free syrup 🥰

Pete and Elouise are at the Worksop Food Festival that’s on from 10-4. We have lots of focaccia and other goodies, and if you’re there around 1pm you may even catch the demo !

So it’s two chances to grab your weekend favourites !

So it’s just slightly cooler in the bakery than the Sahara…. And boy do we know it !!!

Will has been in overnight when it was supposed to be cooler, and we are fully stocked !!

That means all your Saturday favourite pastries, baguettes, sourdough and even focaccia are on the counter now !!!!

So come on down and grab those bbq essentials, or raid the cheese fridge and pack a picnic !!

If the sun could just have a day off…

Righty ho, we’re back! Plenty of tasty goodies on the counter today, and we’ll be open whilst stocks last but I think it’s only fair to the team that once the shelves are bare they can escape the heat!

Pastries, quiches, lots of delicious bread - what more could you need!

Oh, and when I say it gets hot in the bakery, I mean it gets HOT.

☀️Heatwave Update☀️

The forecast certainly didn’t disappoint today did it?! With that in mind, it’s currently 36° in the bakery and that’s before we’ve turned a single oven on, so we’re going to be closing tomorrow as it’s not cooling much overnight.

Tomorrow night is set to be cooler so currently we are still open again from Thursday as usual, but again please do keep an eye on our social media for updates.

If you have bread on order for tomorrow, please pop us a message and we’ll be happy to move your order to another day to suit.
