The sun is finally shining so it’s the perfect time to get out in the garden! This cake features fondant flower and vegetable beds as well as hand crafted fondant figures of my customer’s dad and his three beloved dogs plus the slightly unusual request of a ‘wine glass of beer’ in his hand.

Inside is a classic Vanilla Sponge with Vanilla Buttercream and Strawberry Jam, perfect for an English Country Garden!

Any Dungeons & Dragons fans out there in need of a Bag of Holding? This cute little 6 inch round cake has everything you need for adventure - magic potion, jewelled dagger, gold coins and sparkly gems!

Inside is spiced Gingerbread Sponge with Orange Buttercream - wonderfully warming at this time of year.

Along with the gems on the top of the cake there are also edible dice around the base - vital for any D&D campaign - which were provided by my wonderful friend over at Honeybadger Games. Do check them out for all your edible gaming needs!

The current weather seems to make this cake an appropriate one to share - God of Thunder and Storms anyone?!

Those fluent in Norse runes will be able to decipher the name - shame it wasn’t “Tom” or “Bob” or anything with less than 9 letters!!

Inside is a super gooey Gingerbread Sponge with Lemon Cream Cheese Buttercream. It’s decorated with fondant and edible silver spray to give the metallic effect. Marbling brown, black, grey and white fondant gives a great effect for the rocky ground splitting open under Thor’s Hammer - hardly surprising when this cake is over a foot long and weighed a ton!

A nice opportunity to make something different from my usual round cakes. Next time maybe something honouring Sol - Goddess of Sun - would be better?!

Last Harry Potter one for a bit I promise! Here is the ‘big cake’ for my youngest. In the main photo you can see how it was for the family party - a cauldron balanced on a broom with a golden snitch and a wand with the bottom tier celebrating her new House - Hufflepuff! Alongside is a reimagined version of the book ‘Magical Me’ as referenced in the second film. I made use of my edible ink printer to include a photo on the cover.

Inside was her favourite Chocolate Sponge with Cookies and Cream Buttercream.

After the family devoured the book, I recovered the board and added the house symbols and the Sorting Hat ready for her party with friends. At Charlotte’s request some Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans were also added. As we had eaten the bit with her name on I also added a scroll to the Hufflepuff tier.

In the end I’m not sure which version I like best!

I’m sure you were all on tenterhooks to find out what House she was in! The Birthday Girl has very kindly allowed me to share the big reveal!

We’ve all heard of gender reveal cakes…but what about Hogwarts Reveal Cakes?

The youngest FlameStar has been Sorted….what colour will this cake be inside?

This gave me the warm and fuzzies when I saw it! I love creating for this family, one of my longest standing customers who have supported me from the start and who always keep me up to date and on trend (yes I had to google what a Labubu was!)

Inside this Labubu is plenty of chocolatey goodness - Chocolate Sponge and rich Chocolate Buttercream - yum!

Thank you Julie Weeks and family for supporting me and a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Pepper-Mae! 😍🎂

I’ve been catching up on Clarkson’s Farm which reminded me of this lovely farming cake for a 90th Birthday. The cake was ordered by the gentleman’s granddaughter and she requested a red tractor, a farmer and cows! All of the decorations are hand crafted from fondant - I reckon my plough lines are straighter than Mr Clarkson’s!

Inside this 10 inch square is classic Vanilla Sponge sandwiched with Vanilla Buttercream and Strawberry Jam - perfect with a cuppa after a day in the fields!

After a busy summer it’s time to get back to sharing cakes! It’s all been a bit overwhelming as the FlameStar house now has two more teenagers in residence! Eek! Strangely however they both gave me almost free rein to design this year!

Meredith gave me complete control so I decided to combine her love of cats, ice cream and pink! I’ve been wanting to try the dropped ice cream for a while and I’m very happy with how it came out. Inside she chose Lemon Sponge with zingy Orange Buttercream.

Jeremy asked for ‘something to do with rugby’ and as he’s feeling particularly in tune with his French heritage at the moment the Tricolore made an appearance. Inside he went for a warming Gingerbread Cake with Vanilla Buttercream.

Under the sea has to be one of my favourite themes! So many fun little details and unusual shapes and techniques! The birthday girl asked for blue, purple and pink with gold as the colour scheme so I got to play with edible gold paint to highlight the details.

The lower 10 inch round tier is a classic Vanilla Sponge with Strawberry Jam and Vanilla Buttercream while the 8 inch top tier is scrummy Chocolate Sponge with Chocolate Buttercream.

SPECIAL OFFER! I’ve been waiting to share this one, a cake that I love so much it comes with a special offer of 10% off any cake booked during the rest of February! Just quote ‘Feb10’ when booking.

If you thought I just did children’s novelty cakes then think again! I’m not sure any commission can top this one for emotional input - this three tier wedding cake was bespoke designed for my wonderful brother and my fantastic new sister-in-law.

Unusually, the Bride put the Groom in sole charge of the cake so, armed with a colour scheme and their personal monogram, my brother and I got to work! The result was this stunning 3 tier cake created from 10 and 6 inch rounds with a hexagonal 8 inch middle tier.

To compliment their dusky blue colour scheme and the navy blue of the bridesmaids’ dresses I used a blue marble effect for the two round tiers, giving a stylish but relaxed feel. The middle tier uses the dusky blue as a perfect backdrop to showcase their monogram design which was handcrafted from white fondant. To finish, the cake was accented with handmade white fondant roses to compliment the wedding flowers and add that final touch of elegance.

Inside is where my brother had very strong opinions making this cake as bespoke on the inside as it is on the outside! It’s a rich Chocolate Sponge sandwiched together with lashings of Chocolate Buttercream and Salted Caramel Buttercream, made with homemade Salted Caramel Sauce! It was absolutely heavenly if I do say so myself!

Congratulations you two, I wish you a lifetime of happiness (and cake!)

The eldest FlameStar offspring assured me he just wanted 'something Dungeons and Dragons themed' this year but that I could design it how I wanted...then 4 days before his birthday he spend over an hour describing in extreme detail EXACTLY what he wanted it to look like! 😂😂

So here we have a treasure chest overflowing with loot with a giant D20 dice which has rolled a nat20 (for those not in the know, that's a 20 sided dice which has landed 20 side up). I don't know if you've ever thought about the mathematics of a icosahedron but my brain was scrambled so I pulled a cheat card and used a foam dummy shape which I decorated with swirling red and orange fondant.

The chest is covered with marbled fondant to make woodgrain and accented with edible gold paint to make the fittings. As well as a hoard of gold and silver, I needed some precious jewels! For this I turned to my good friend and fellow 'mum in business' at Honeybadger Games for some of her deliciously edible Sweet Sweet Loot sweets to really finish this cake in style. Do check out her page and website (https://www.honeybadgergames.co.uk) for all the edible gaming treats you could possibly need!

Inside is a extremely gooey Gingerbread Sponge with lashings of Orange Cream Cheese Buttercream - my son's personal request and it was extremely moreish if I do say so myself.

Happy Birthday Sébastien, my not-so-little-anymore Barbarian!
