Simon is thrilled to be heading to 100% Optical in London with Millmead Optical Group, who will be supplying his 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐢𝐱𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦.
Working closely with children and adults with learning disabilities, Simon knows first‑hand how challenging it can be to maintain attention during essential clinical measurements.

That challenge inspired Simon's Visual Fixation System, which he designed to capture attention while still allowing clinicians to take the measurements they need. It’s especially valuable for young patients and those with additional needs, helping make eye care more engaging and accessible.

Here is the winning sock design from Down Syndrome International's 2025 sock design competition.
'Reach for the Stars' was designed by Sharan and Ujay who are from the UK.

Sharan's entry included a heartfelt reflection on her journey as the mother of a nearly two-year-old son with Down syndrome. Her words are a poignant reminder of the importance of belief, encouragement, and limitless expectations:

"Along the journey I have heard people make comments like, ‘oh never mind he will be able to do most things maybe’, ‘he won’t be able to do that’. One of the things most important to me is making sure my son knows he can reach for the stars, just because he has DS doesn’t mean he can’t do things. This design is to show how anyone with or without DS can reach for the stars and we as adults need to make sure children know this and don’t hear the words ‘you can’t or won’t be able to’."
